Our client is seeking a
Lead Mechanical Engineer
responsible for supervising engineering activities across project phases, ensuring technical accuracy, cost control, and timely delivery for complex industrial and infrastructure projects.

Must Have Skills

  • 16+ years of related experience or 20 years with a combination of education and experience (if non-degreed)
  • Experience in mining and metals
  • Proven experience with estimating, scheduling, workforce forecasting, and progress reporting
  • Advanced knowledge of mechanical discipline codes, standards, and materials
  • Leadership and mentoring experience for engineering teams on large-scale projects
  • Strong technical problem-solving and equipment specification capabilities

Nice to Have Skills

  • Practical field experience and project close-out knowledge
  • Experience with permitting, procurement, and subcontracting coordination
  • Membership in a relevant technical society
  • Knowledge of project control-level schedules and engineering deliverable management
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, presentations, spreadsheets)
  • Experience supervising multi-disciplinary teams and providing appraisal feedback

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical engineering scope and oversee project execution from planning to close-out
  • Review and develop specifications, design criteria, and procurement documentation
  • Supervise and mentor engineering staff, providing performance evaluations and guidance
  • Develop estimates, workforce plans, progress reports, and schedule forecasts
  • Solve complex engineering challenges and recommend cost-effective solutions
  • Track key material quantities and perform analytical forecasts
  • Support permitting, subcontracting, and vendor coordination efforts
  • Ensure adherence to project guidelines, safety, and quality standards
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Perform other leadership and engineering duties as assigned
