Position Overview

We're hiring Lumpers (Freight Loaders & Unloaders) to join our expanding Brantford operations serving the southwestern Ontario corridor.

This is a piece-work position, ideal for individuals who are physically strong, efficient, and motivated by performance. Your pay is directly tied to the number of loads you complete — the harder you work, the more you earn.

Shifts Available:

  • Day, Afternoon, and Night Shifts
  • Weekend shifts available
  • Flexible Scheduling & On-Call Opportunities
  • Full-Time or Part-Time Positions

Work Locations & Travel

  • May be required to work at multiple warehouse locations throughout Brantford and surrounding areas
  • Workers may travel between sites during the day to load or unload trailers
  • All facilities are high-volume operations offering steady work and room to grow
  • A personal vehicle is not required, as most locations are accessible by public transit
  • Having a vehicle is an asset for flexibility and rapid dispatch between sites

Compensation

Piece-Work Pay Structure:

  • Earn between $100–$400 per day, depending on physical ability and load completion rate
  • Wages are paid weekly via direct deposit
  • First-week hold: work completed this week is paid the following week

Key Responsibilities

  • Unload freight from trailers, containers, and dry vans
  • Identify, sort, and count freight accurately by manifest
  • Palletize freight to required ti-hi specifications
  • Wrap, stage, and move completed pallets for shipping or storage
  • Report damages and discrepancies immediately
  • Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced dock environment

Technology & Portal Use

  • Must have a cell phone with data access to use NAL's online work portal
  • Portal is required for:
  • Daily time-sheet submissions
  • Work-completion reports
  • Viewing load assignments and job details
  • Training on the NAL Portal is provided during onboarding

Work Environment

  • Dry storage: may reach up to 45°C in summer
  • Chilled: maintained around 2°C
  • Freezer: consistent −20°C
  • Heavy lifting required (CHEP pallets weigh up to 80 lbs)
  • Safety vests required — no hard hats on standard dock operations

Requirements

  • Valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) required for employment
  • If applying under a work permit, an Open Work Permit is mandatory
  • Must have a cell phone for time sheets, job details, and daily submission portal
  • Basic English and math skills
  • Ability to read and understand manifests
  • Strong physical endurance and attention to detail
  • Reliable, punctual, and safety-minded
  • Weekend availability required
  • Walkie / Forklift license an asset (must obtain walkie certification within 30 days of employment)
