Commercial Operations Supervisor

Blackfin Doors & Gates is a new company entering the Victoria, BC market. Our primary focus will be on the installation and service of overhead residential garage doors, commercial parkade and rolling steel doors, and driveway gates. Please note that we are only considering applicants with previous experience at this time.

Position Overview

Our Commercial Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing the installation of overhead doors, rolling steel doors, driveway gates and their associated automation, including guiding their team to complete the assigned work efficiently and to company standards. They will coordinate with the Commercial and Gates Sales & Project Managers to ensure that all aspects of the scope of work are taken into consideration when completing Estimates and Bids and assist with project site checks to confirm that installations can be completed safely and efficiently. This role will also act as field support for other technicians and administrative staff, answering in person or by phone inquiries to assist them with completing their work safely and efficiently. Daily assignments may also include repair and preventative maintenance of overhead doors, rolling steel doors, driveway gates and their associated automation. Attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, strong mechanical aptitude, customer service skills and commitment to quality control will be essential in meeting the guidelines of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Management: Coordinate and manage the installation of a variety of overhead door and driveway gate products and accessories using appropriate tools and equipment, including working with the Commercial and Gates Sales & Project Managers to identify appropriate equipment and complete ongoing site checks to confirm installations will proceed smoothly.
  • Field & On Call Support: Provide support to other technicians and administrative staff, including during on call periods, in order to assist others with completing their work in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Repairs and Maintenance: Identify and repair technical issues, such as broken springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components, utilizing efficient troubleshooting and service procedures.
  • Quality Control: Ensure that all installed products meet both manufacturer and company standards.
  • Customer service: Ensure an excellent customer experience by addressing client questions or concerns, explaining processes, and offering advice as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of service visits, repairs and installations within our field service program.
  • Representation: Represent Blackfin Doors and Gates within the community, maintaining professionalism and meeting all customer service guidelines.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience as an Overhead Door Technician required. Experience in other trades will be considered as an asset.
  • Tools: Must be able to use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment safely and competently. Technicians will provide their own hand tools as part of this position – no interest financing may be available.
  • At heights: Must be able to work at heights utilizing ladders, scissor lifts or other equipment. Certification for scissor lifts and forklifts will be provided after 90 days if not already obtained. We will provide standard PPE equipment as part of this position.
  • Lifting: Must be capable of lifting materials weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Driver's License: Valid Class 5 Driver's License is required, and clean driver's abstract.
