The , organized and run by the , is dedicated to educating, equipping, and inspiring young Canadians to engage meaningfully in civic life. Over three weeks in February and March 2026, the Forum will host its National Summit in Ottawa, welcoming over 300 students over three weeks students aged 15-18 per week) for an immersive, hands-on experience like no other.
The at Toronto Metropolitan University is working with the Rideau Hall Foundation to program evening activities and ensure the safety and well being of all participants throughout the evening and overnight.
Job Role
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine youth mentorship, program leadership, and civic education. You will actively guide and support participants, facilitating activities that help them develop leadership skills and engage meaningfully in civic life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during the evening and overnight
- Follow the Rideau Hall Foundation's safeguarding policies
- Report any issues promptly and work with on-site leaders to address any concerns as they arise
- Lead social programs in the evening such as helping to facilitate prepared activities, chaperoning the youth participants to off-site experiences, and ensuring all the youth feel included and welcome
- Assist participants with attendance, preparedness, and support those unable to engage in regular programming
- Stay onsite at the hotel with participants, monitoring and responding to issues during the evening and overnight
Qualifications:
- Minimum age: 24 years
- Valid police record check, interview, and reference checks are required
- Experience leading youth programming, camp counseling, coaching young people or related fields (Required)
- Familiarity with child protection and safeguarding practices
- Proven ability to address and respond to concerns appropriately and with sensitivity
- Clear and empathetic communication, particularly in handling sensitive or urgent situations with participants and program staff
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with care and discretion
- Certified in Standard First Aid Level C (preferred but not essential)
- Bilingual English/French (preferred but not essential)
Compensation:
$2,000 per week, amounting to $6,000 total for the three weeks
- Two daily meals provided during shift hours, breakfast and dinner
- Hotel accommodations are provided during each program week (five nights, Sunday to Friday).
When You'll Need To Be Available:
We are seeking Youth Engagement Leaders who can commit to the training day and to all three sessions.
Training Day: Saturday, February 7 (time tbd)
Session 1: Sunday, February 8 - Friday, February 13, 2026
Session 2: Sunday, March 8 - Friday, March 13, 2026
Session 3: Sunday, March 22 - Friday, March 27, 2026
Training:
- 3 hours for online safeguarding training prior to Forum
- 5 hours of in person training on Saturday, February 7th
Hours:
- The Youth Engagement Leader role begins Sunday at 4:30 PM and ends Friday morning.
- All Leaders are required to work the evening shift from 4:30 PM – 11:00 PM daily. Overnight duties are divided into two three-hour shifts:
- 11:00 PM – 2:00 AM
- 2:00 AM – 5:00 AM
- Each Leader will be assigned one overnight shift per night.
- Each Leader works a total of 9.5 hours per day
