Job Summary
As Lead Hand you will work closely with the Foreman to help execute landscaping projects to the highest standards of quality and efficiency. This hands-on leadership role bridges the gap between crew members and management by guiding daily tasks, ensuring plans are properly understood and followed, and maintaining consistent workmanship. You will also support quality control, reinforces safety practices, and mentors newer team members, helping to keep every project running smoothly, safely, and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Work alongside the Foreman to interpret project plans and ensure tasks are executed accurately.
- Provide on-the-job guidance and share expertise with crew members to improve efficiency and skill development.
- Oversee daily quality control and ensure workmanship meets company standards.
- Support safety practices and model professional conduct on-site.
- Assist in monitoring crew progress and communicating any issues or needs to the Foreman.
- Promote teamwork and a positive, productive work environment.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in landscaping, construction, or a related field.
- Strong working knowledge of landscape installation techniques, materials, and tools.
- Advanced expertise in at least one area of landscaping such as interlock installation, sodding, artificial turf, or hydroseeding.
- Proven ability to lead by example and motivate others.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
- Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious.
- Valid driver's license preferred; equipment experience is an asset (e.g. skid steer, plate compactor, rakes, level, lawn roller, masonry saw).
