The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP's CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan's history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long-term roles.
Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for mid-2027. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. Work LocationThis role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located near LeRoy, SK. The work schedule for this role will be 8/80 (10 hour days).
If you do not currently reside in within the Jansen regions, you may choose to relocate, supported by a comprehensive relocation package, or to stay in Jansen's Discovery Lodge while on shift.
PurposeReporting to the Lead Technical Training, the Specialist Underground Training will be a key contributor to preparing underground personnel for mine operations. This role will be responsible for training underground production and maintenance employees in mining machines and other auxiliary mining equipment.
About the RoleIn this role, you will:
Support new operators by providing basic equipment knowledge.Deliver in-field equipment training in an underground setting.Complete training documentation and support document control best practices.Assess competency in equipment operators, and provide clear feedback if improvements are required.Improve training programs to maintain safety, compliance and performance during mine operations.Deliver training using training simulators, Virtual reality (VR) and other systems located at our Humboldt Potash Academy.Develop and review new training content. Proven experience in potash mine operations and underground production.Must hold Saskatchewan Underground Supervisor Ticket or be able to obtain it.Must be willing and able to work in an underground mining environment.Experience operating Potash mining equipment such as continuous miners, scooptrams, battery haulers, bolters, drum miners.Experience operating mobile equipment such as Telehandler, Skidsteer.Strong understanding underground safety and regulatory requirements.
