About the Role:
Join our team as a Safety Advisor, where you will provide essential H&S support and guidance to our regional locations. This role involves the tactical delivery and execution of Health & Safety programs aligned with our strategic priorities and regional initiatives. You will work in alignment with our core values of safety, integrity, respect, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver effective field health and safety technical support in day-to-day operations.
- Support Regional Leadership in achieving health and safety goals while executing local plans.
- Provide effective health and safety support to Joint Health and Safety Committees (JHSCs).
- Assist with the implementation of the GDS Health and Safety Program.
- Deliver select safety training courses and coordinate third-party training courses.
- Lead preventable motor vehicle incident investigations and support the Incident Investigations Team for personal injury events involving GDS employees.
- Provide onsite initial incident response for GDS, Corporate Service, and Project incidents involving Enbridge employees and contractors.
- Offer support and subject matter expertise with the implementation, integration, and maintenance of GDS and Safety & Reliability (S&R) Health and Safety Programs.
- Collaborate with the Enbridge Occupational Hygiene team to coordinate/conduct Industrial Hygiene Testing as required.
- Demonstrate visible safety leadership through regular field visits, project support, and local Safety Roundtables.
- Support people leaders with early and safe return to work initiatives.
- Assist the Real Estate Workplace Service (REWS) group as required (e.g., fire drills, Fire Captain Training).
- Advise people leaders in incident severity assessments for Drug & Alcohol Testing Process decision-making.
- Provide assurance activity support (audits) as required.
- Act as a local liaison with regulators as needed (e.g., MLITSD).
Scope and Dimensions:
- Serve as a Trusted Advisor for Safety in the Eastern Region.
- Support the development of broader GDS & Central Services Safety Objectives.
- Work independently to fulfill responsibilities and network with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Lead and support initiatives, objectives, and issues impacting worker safety and the success of the safety management system.
Qualifications:
- Related University Degree; candidates without a degree require an additional three years of related experience.
- Minimum of 4 years of Occupational Safety Experience.
- Demonstrated ability to be innovative, self-managed, strategic, and capable of initiating and managing change.
- Strong research, problem-solving, observation, analytical, and report writing skills with keen attention to detail.
- Proven interpersonal, communication, writing, and computer skills.
- Excellent adult education and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 years of Occupational Safety Experience in the Oil and Gas Sector.
Working Conditions:
- Primary location is office-based with travel (20%) throughout the Region from Markham to Burlington, Brampton, and Barrie.
- May be required to provide vacation coverage for other locations within Ontario.
- Valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Occasional overnight travel required.
