POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Manager, Quality and Process Improvement leads strategic, enterprise-wide quality and process improvement (QPI) initiatives at Holland Bloorview. Reporting to the Manager, Quality and Performance, you will make a critical contribution to Holland Bloorview's Learning Health System (LHS) journey by facilitating the integration of research, data and practice to enhance client safety, experience, and operational efficiency. Rooted in LHS principles, this role provides expertise in data analytics, quality improvement (QI) methodologies, and process redesign. You will manage high-impact, cross-functional projects, act as a subject matter expert in QI, and champion a culture of continuous improvement by supporting diverse teams across the organization. The role involves advanced analytical thinking, stakeholder engagement, mentoring, and the implementation of innovative, data-driven solutions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, execute, and close projects according to deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and resource requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Monitor and track progress using appropriate tools, adjusting plans as necessary to meet evolving needs.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and issues to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Maintain thorough documentation and prepare regular reports and presentations for stakeholders.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Lead hospital-wide QI initiatives that align with LHS and hospital strategic priorities, especially in areas of client and family experience and access to care.
- Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Design Thinking methodologies to guide performance improvements. Use advanced tools such as PowerBI, Cognos, and Excel for data analysis and visualization.
- Manage end-to-end project life cycles including scoping, planning, stakeholder coordination, risk assessment, and progress reporting. Offer expert consultation to teams hospital-wide.
- Present QI initiatives to internal committees and external partners. Co-chair institutional groups such as the Quality & Safety Committee and Equipment Steering Committee.
- Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to enhance QI competencies within the hospital.
- Design and implement best practices and tools that support LHS goals. Promote a culture of safety and continuous learning through proactive problem-solving and redesign.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Master's degree in healthcare or a related field, required
- Undergraduate degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, Regulated Health Professional, or a related degree
- Certification in QI (Lean, Six Sigma, IDEAS, CQuIPS, IHI or equivalent), required
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of related work experience in a healthcare or complex service environment
- Demonstrated success managing data-intensive improvement initiatives
- Familiarity with performance measurement, regulatory compliance and accreditation standards
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (PowerBI, Cognos, Excel/MS Office Suite)
- Well-developed project management, facilitation and change leadership skills
- Effective communicator with proven ability to influence diverse stakeholders, both internal and external, and with communication skills to interact effectively with people from all disciplines; at all levels of experience and at all levels of the organization
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise initiative and autonomy in making high-impact decisions, with the ability to align actions and strategies with organizational goals at a highly proficient level
