Responsibilities:

  • Perform full-service grooming for dogs and cats of all breeds, sizes, and temperaments, including bathing, drying, brushing, de-shedding, dematting, clipping, scissoring, nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression (if trained and comfortable).
  • Consult with pet owners to understand their grooming preferences, address any concerns, and provide expert advice on coat care and maintenance.
  • Assess the pet's coat and skin condition, identifying any potential issues and communicating them to the owner and/or management.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized grooming station and work area, adhering to all sanitation and safety protocols.
  • Handle pets with patience, kindness, and a gentle touch, prioritizing their comfort and well-being throughout the grooming process.
  • Recognize and address signs of stress or discomfort in pets, adjusting grooming techniques as needed.
  • Accurately complete grooming records and update client files.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, colleagues, and management.
  • Assist with other salon duties as needed, such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining common areas.
  • Stay updated on current grooming trends, techniques, and pet care best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Looking for someone to have a professional dog and cat grooming experience in a salon setting.
  • Demonstrable portfolio or strong references showcasing a wide range of grooming styles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in handling various breeds and temperaments of dogs and cats.
  • Certification from a recognized grooming academy or equivalent on-the-job training is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of animal behavior, health, and common grooming-related conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and handle active animals safely.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Passion for animals and a genuine desire to provide exceptional care.
