PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Sorter/Packer position is to sort defect parts. It sometimes requires re-packing parts into customer specified totes as per customer requirements in order to prepare them for shipping. The sorting can be done at the press or in the sorting area.

NATURE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The position ensures that all outgoing parts meet all customer and work instruction specifications. Internal contacts may include personnel in Production, Quality and the Logistics Department.

The position is responsible for and completes his/her work and does not co-ordinate the work of others. Decisions made by this position could impact the department in the short term.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma.

Organizational skills in order to balance priorities. Ability to work independently and within a group. Must pay attention to details.

Basic oral and written communication skills for normal business communication. Ability to follow specific instructions.

Previous experience in a manufacturing environment would be an asset but is not mandatory for this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sorts parts, distinguishes between good and non-conforming parts.
  • Records the work at the ODC Terminals.
  • Follows specific directions and tasks assigned.
  • Packages parts into totes as required.
  • Follows and performs to the instructions as outlined in the Work Area Reference Manual (s) applicable to the department.
  • Follows and performs to the processed and instructions as outlined in the Process House applicable to the department.
  • Performs all duties within the 5S standards.
  • Compliance to all company HR policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for working safely, complying with safety policies and procedures, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) required in the designated areas as per company policy.
  • Responsible for working safely and keeping a safe work area for themselves and fellow employees. Reporting any unsafe working conditions, practices, and work-related injuries immediately to his/her Manager.
  • Any other job-related duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Team Lead and Manager.
