Edmonton Public Library is looking for a collaborative, adaptable and creative individual to provide leadership in youth services with a focus on the development of curriculum-aligned programming and literacy initiatives for school-aged students. In particular, the Teacher-Librarian is responsible for developing, coordinating, and facilitating EPL's Larry and Louise Charach Library School and the Cook Up a Story Summer Camp.

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor of Education (or equivalent) and either: a Master of Library & Information Studies degree or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution, or a Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies – Teacher Librarianship or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of directly related experience, which includes a minimum of 2 years in library services and a minimum of 2 years of recent classroom teaching with lesson plan development responsibilities.
- Teaching Certification is strongly preferred.
- Experience in youth engagement, community outreach and program evaluation is preferred.
- Teaching experience in Canada is preferred.
- Supervisory experience is preferred

- A commitment to upholding the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion.
- Knowledge of Alberta's elementary school curriculum.
- Ability to design and lead inquiry-based learning activities.
- Ability to assess community interests and needs, and to plan services accordingly, in keeping with the Library's business plan and strategic directions.
- Ability to work effectively with customers of all ages and backgrounds; experience working with users from a wide variety of cultural, economic, social and educational backgrounds is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively outside of traditional library activities and settings.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and new service directions.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team environment.

Pay Band:
$ $55.41 per hour*
- Approximately $79,326 - $101,241 per annum based on a 35 hour work week.
Shift differential may apply in accordance with the terms and conditions of the CSU 52 Collective Agreement.
Note:
Satisfactory background screenings is required for this position which includes a Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts.
