THE ROLE IN A NUTSHELL

GreenShield is looking for a Technical Writer (Hybrid) to join our Product team.   
 
You approach writing with empathy, ensuring content is inclusive, respectful, and accessible to all users. Your work helps clients make informed decisions about their health and the well-being of their loved ones, often at critical moments. As a key member of the technical writing team, you'll shape communications that build understanding across essential touchpoints. 

You'll craft clear, user-centered content for a range of formats that includes Help Centre articles, in-product UX copy, video tutorials, internal knowledge base documentation, release notes, and more.  

You're a content creator who manages large, modular content systems built for reuse and tailored to diverse audiences, moving easily between writing microcopy, developing complex topic sets, and delivering high-impact documentation. 

This position will report to the Technical Writing Team Manager. 

Roles and Responsibilities 

• Develop engaging content for health and insurance software products and experiences 
• Collaborate with Technical Writers, Product Managers, Designer, Engineers, and QA specialists to deeply understand feature requirements and user scenarios 
• Convert knowledge into structured, goal-based content that make our products approachable for everyone 
• Receive feedback and peer review articles by other writers and colleagues 
• Create visual content for help guides, such as diagrams, screenshots, or short videos 
• Write UX copy and microcopy in collaboration with our Product team 
• Write release notes descriptions and assemble release notes documents 

Requirements 

• 2–5 years of experience in technical writing, with a focus on user-facing content in English and in French. 
• Strong written communication skills in both English and French 
• Ability to incorporate videos or images to support different learning styles 
• Understanding of content lifecycle management, including versioning, stakeholder reviews, and publishing workflows 
• Attention to detail in bilingual quality control, ensuring accuracy in grammar, punctuation, and terminology 
• Experience using internal glossaries and researching terminology to support clarity and consistency 
  
  

Nice to have 

• Familiarity with structured authoring tools and formats such as DITA, XML, and single-source content management systems 
• Experience in healthcare or a related industry with complex regulatory needs in a digital environment 
• Understanding of agile workflows and tools like Jira 
• Knowledge of localization best practices and experience working with translation workflows 
• Knowledge of the OQLF's linguistic standards and recommendations for French content 
• Comfortable collaborating in design environments using tools like Figma 
• Experience adapting content for mobile interfaces. 
• Enthusiasm for building technical knowledge and validating content through user testing and feedback
