Job Summary

We are seeking a Non-Certified Diesel Mechanic who would be responsible for performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on a fleet of over 20 commercial trucks and more than 100 trailers for a small to medium-sized transportation company. This hands-on role involves diagnosing mechanical issues, completing preventative maintenance, supporting road-ready safety standards, and assisting with larger repairs under the guidance of senior technicians when required. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, able to work independently in a fast-paced shop environment, and committed to keeping equipment operating efficiently and safely to minimize downtime and support daily fleet operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic repairs and maintenance on diesel engines, transmissions, and hydraulic systems.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues under supervision or with guidance from a senior mechanic.
  • Replace filters, fluids, belts, hoses, and worn parts.
  • Conduct oil changes, lubrication, and routine servicing of trucks, tractors, trailers and other heavy equipment.
  • Adjust or replace brakes, clutches, bearings, and seals.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and record service logs.
  • Inspect tires, tracks, and suspension systems for wear or damage.

Skills

  • Proven experience working in a Diesel Mechanic Shop
  • Strong mechanical knowledge across diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical components.
  • Proficiency with schematics reading and automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues efficiently.
  • Hands-on experience with heavy equipment operation such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm machinery.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures for tractor-trailers and industrial vehicles.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills combined with customer service orientation to communicate effectively with clients or team members.
  • Capable of handling heavy lifting safely using appropriate techniques and equipment.
