THE OPPORTUNITY:
We are seeking an exceptional Head of Strategic Sourcing and Procurement to lead our global procurement strategy for the electronic devices and semiconductor components that power our industry-leading reverse engineering and teardown analysis. This senior leadership role will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive sourcing strategies across consumer electronics, enterprise hardware, and advanced semiconductor technologies that enable our research teams to deliver the actionable intelligence our customers depend on. You'll build strategic partnerships with manufacturers, navigate complex international supply chains, and establish procurement channels that ensure TechInsights maintains its position as the most trusted source of semiconductor innovation intelligence.
This role offers the opportunity to shape procurement strategies at the forefront of technological innovation, working cross-functionally with our research, legal, compliance, and finance teams to balance innovation access with risk management while maintaining the highest ethical sourcing standards.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive global sourcing strategy for electronic devices including smartphones, laptops, servers, GPUs, CPUs, and specialized semiconductor components
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with tier-one semiconductor manufacturers and emerging chipmakers to secure access to cutting-edge components not available through standard commercial channels
- Establish and manage procurement channels in complex international markets, building relationships with authorized intermediaries, trading companies, and regional distributors
- Navigate international trade regulations, export controls, and sanctions regimes while maintaining ethical sourcing standards and managing compliance risk
- Manage large-scale procurement operations for standard electronic devices through traditional commercial channels, ensuring competitive pricing and reliable supply
- Develop comprehensive risk assessment and mitigation strategies for critical component supply chains, establishing redundant sourcing strategies and alternative supplier networks
- Build and lead a high-performing procurement team with expertise across different technology categories and geographic regions
- Negotiate framework agreements, strategic partnerships, and volume purchasing agreements with major OEMs, distributors, and resellers globally
- Monitor geopolitical developments, trade policy changes, and supply chain disruptions that could impact procurement operations
- Establish procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that balance innovation access with risk management and compliance requirements
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 12-15 years of progressive experience in technology procurement, with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles
- Demonstrated expertise procuring semiconductors, electronic components, and computing hardware
- A deep understanding of semiconductor distribution, technology roadmaps, and industry dynamics
- Established network within the semiconductor industry and proven track record negotiating complex strategic partnerships, particularly with Asian supply chains in Taiwan, South Korea, and mainland China
- Comprehensive knowledge of international trade regulations, export controls (EAR, ITAR, Wassenaar Arrangement), sanctions programs, and customs procedures
- Strong financial analysis and negotiation skills with experience managing significant procurement budgets and presenting business cases to executive leadership
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and geographically distributed teams, with strong communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels
- Professional certifications such as CPSM, CSCP, or equivalent supply chain credentials preferred
