Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic
General Manager, Laboratory Operations & Business Development
to lead and oversee the end-to-end operations of our growing diagnostics division. This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on operator who can streamline lab workflows, manage vendor and partner relationships, elevate digital product experience, and drive commercial growth.
This is a full-time,
onsite leadership role
responsible for operational excellence, compliance, vendor oversight, digital platform alignment, and revenue expansion within diagnostic services.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations Management
- Oversee daily lab workflow, sample lifecycle, quality standards, regulatory compliance, and turnaround times.
- Lead operational optimization initiatives to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement SOPs, QA/QC processes, and performance metrics.
- Coordinate between internal lab teams, external labs, clinicians, and cross-functional departments.
Vendor & Partner Management
- Manage relationships with laboratory vendors, suppliers, diagnostic partners, and logistics providers.
- Negotiate contracts, SLAs, pricing, and performance expectations.
- Identify new vendor opportunities to expand capacity, capabilities, or geographic reach.
- Monitor vendor compliance, operational KPIs, and service quality.
Digital Experience & Platform Oversight
- Work closely with product, engineering, and clinical teams to ensure seamless digital diagnostic workflows.
- Optimize user experience for test ordering, sample collection, tracking, and reporting.
- Evaluate technology needs and collaborate on product enhancements related to diagnostics.
- Support troubleshooting and escalation management for digital-lab integrations.
Business Development & Growth
- Develop and execute strategies to expand the diagnostics portfolio.
- Identify and nurture partnerships with clinics, employers, insurers, and wellness providers.
- Support pricing strategy, new product launches, and go-to-market planning.
- Analyze market trends, customer needs, and revenue opportunities.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead cross-departmental initiatives involving operations, product, clinical, and customer experience.
- Manage and mentor team members across operations and partner-facing functions.
- Drive a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in a diagnostic laboratory business, ideally within operations, partnerships, or business development.
- Strong understanding of diagnostics workflows, regulatory considerations, and lab operations.
- Proven experience managing vendors, procurement, or diagnostic service providers.
- Experience working closely with digital health platforms or tech-enabled healthcare services.
- Demonstrated capability in business development, partnership growth, or commercial operations.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, scaling environment with high ownership.
