WHO WE ARE:

Jackalopes is a heavy metal themed restaurant with a friendly vibe and a focus on quality comfort food and approachable drinks. We are a 35 seat restaurant in the heart of Hastings Sunrise in East Vancouver, and we have been a staple in our growing neighbourhood for nearly 12 years. We have an excellent reputation for our unique and laid back atmosphere. Jackalopes was featured on Food Networks "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives" in 2019. Our excellent reputation is grounded in our quality food and easy-going dining experience as well as our excellent customer service; leaving everyone feel well fed and welcome.

OUR FOOD:

Our menu focuses on approachable comfort food with a touch of nostalgia. We believe in taking simple and uncomplicated ingredients and making high quality homestyle meals and snacks. We believe in making quality plates at a reasonable and accessible prices. The majority of our food is made from scratch which provides our customers with our unique "not just pub food" experience.

THE JOB: CHEF/KITCHEN MANAGER

Oversee the day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring that our standards of quality, presentation and consistency are maintained

Supervise, train, and support back of house staff to maintain our quality standards

Support and lead in the creation and execution of monthly food specials and speciality items

Maintain inventory, place weekly and monthly orders, manage food costs, tip outs and scheduling of the back of house

Ensure and troubleshoot the proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

We are willing to train the right person into the position of our Chef/Kitchen Manager, however we ask that you come to us with a minimum 2 years as Sous Chef or 5 plus years on line with some management experience. Strong leadership, communication, experience, easy going attitude and a passion for food are all of the utmost importance. Knowledge of baking and sous vide immersion cooking are important and valued assets.

COMPENSATION & PERKS

52,000-60,000 per year, salaried, based on experience
