The impact you will have
Are you a detail-oriented professional, who thrives on tackling technical accounting challenges? As the Revenue Accountant you will be the subject matter expert for the Company's revenue operations and compliance requirements. You will be responsible for the rigorous governance over revenue operations and accounting, including maintaining effective internal controls for all revenue streams. Leveraging your technical expertise and understanding of the Company, you will also spearhead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of systems and processes with an eye on efficient and accurate revenue accounting and reporting.
What You'll Do
- Responsible for the revenue recognition month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial results
- Conduct and prepare thorough relevant analysis to ensure proper revenue recognition of product and services – ensure related sales transactions are correctly reflected in ERP system
- Responsible for reviewing contract terms and conditions, researching accounting guidance and determining appropriate accounting treatment for significant arrangements
- Contribute to the accuracy and integrity of revenue reporting, and support the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual internal financial reports as well as parent company (World Wide Technology) submissions and analysis.
- Prepare and analyze monthly results and develop insightful analysis and commentary on business performance vs Plan and Forecasts
- Assess and draft technical memos for relevant new pronouncements
- Maintain revenue accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting
- Work with key business stakeholders to ensure compliance with key internal control and accounting standard requirements
- Foster proactive cross-functional relationships within and outside Finance department including Sales, Business Development and Fulfillment
- Demonstrate strong judgment and attention to detail when evaluating processes and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to drive system and process improvements.
- Take initiative and ownership from idea to execution, proactively identifying opportunities for better alignment and delivering impactful results.
- Document and maintain existing reporting procedures
- Work closely with external audit team regarding reporting and audit requirements
- Ad-hoc projects as required
What You'll Bring To The Table
- CPA with big 4 experience or equivalent experience within the technology industry desired
- Demonstrated superior Excel and ERP experience required (SAP an asset)
- Demonstrated strong IFRS 15 and/or ASC 606 technical accounting background and ability to synthesize and analyze complex accounting standards and draft accounting policy
- US GAAP experience is an asset
- Able to research accounting guidance and determine appropriate accounting treatment on an ad hoc basis for special transactions
- Demonstrated strength in written and oral communication
- Superior attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
