We are searching for the best talent for a Director of Sales, Surgery Canada to join our J&J MedTech team.  This position is field based in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

Purpose:

The Director of Sales (DOS) leads regional sales teams to achieve sales targets and financial objectives. This director is responsible for understanding and aligning with the customer's strategic priorities at all levels and delivering solutions to meet both short and long term objectives. This position will oversee business operations by leading the Surgery sales organization and mobilizing cross-functional support resources, including Marketing, Strategic Account Management, Professional Education, and Human Resources. This position will also be responsible for implementing sales capabilities, including policies and strategies to ensure sustained business vitality and success. The DOS fosters relationships and partners with key executive, economic, and clinical decision-makers across the healthcare system to drive growth, increase market share, and enhance customer engagement. This role requires a deep understanding of the healthcare industry, the ability to navigate a matrixed organization, and the strategic acumen to drive transformation and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and sustain strategic relationships with healthcare, clinical, and business executives at targeted Strategic Health Systems and facilities to maximize engagement with key decision-makers. (30%)
  • Collaborate with Surgery Marketing and JJMT Partners (sales, contracting, finance, SHAPE) to ensure alignment and drive business performance to develop and implement business strategies that align with market opportunities and customer needs. (20%)
  • Lead, coach and mentor direct reports in regional sales management. Elevating sales management abilities embedding systems & metrics to create a best-in-class sales organization. Ensure optimal regional staffing levels, talent acquisition & development, sales deployment, plan and performance metrics. (20%)
  • Champion the development and implementation of best-in-class sales capabilities in the areas of Customer Partnership, Digital Sales Excellence, Sales Coaching, Data -Driven Performance Management, Customer experience systems implementation (Challenger & Butterfly). (20%)
  • Monitor healthcare industry trends, delivery strategies, and marketplace developments to adapt business strategies accordingly. (10%)

Other Duties:

  • Prioritize business opportunities, assess resource trade-offs, and drive strategic account management initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, cross-functional accountability, and inclusivity within the organization.
  • Drive data-driven decision-making and effectively leverage insights to inform strategic planning.
  • Ensure compliance with business conduct policies, healthcare compliance (HCC), and other J&J policies and procedures.
  • Serve as a change leader by implementing effective talent strategies and leading through transformation initiatives.

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, related field, or equivalent, MBA preferred.
  • 10+ years healthcare business experience.
  • 5+ years experience in people management.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare industry and digital environment.
  • Proven track record in commercial leadership roles (e.g., marketing, account management, sales, contracting, finance).
  • Experience leading across a Life Sciences, MedTech, or Tech portfolio with breadth and depth.
  • Proven sales leadership, marketing, or key account leadership experience.
  • Up to 40% business travel may be required.
