The Davis Auto Group is looking for a Health and Safety Manager to lead and manage the Health and Safety program at all of our businesses. The Health and Safety Manager will champion, maintain and continuously improve our health and safety program while being the go-to person for all health and safety matters, ensuring compliance with all relevant provincial regulations and promoting a culture of safety across all locations.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage the company-wide COR program tailored to multi-site dealership and service operations.
  • Ensure compliance with Alberta and BC OHS legislation, Workers' Compensation (Alberta WCB and WorkSafe BC) standards, and internal policies.
  • Conduct regular site visits to liaise with leadership, employees and location Health and Safety Committees to provide advice, guidance and support on all aspects of the health and safety program and COR certification.
  • Conduct inspections, hazard assessments, emergency response drills, and risk analyses across locations as required
  • Ensure safety procedures are followed in high-risk areas (e.g., vehicle lifts, tire and lube bays, chemical handling etc.)
  • Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and coordinate corrective and preventative actions (CAPA).
  • Deliver or coordinate training in WHMIS, PPE use, ergonomics, first aid, safe vehicle handling, LOTO (lockout/tagout), etc.
  • Maintain and manage safety documentation: safety orientation, hazard assessments, training, injury reports, etc.
  • Conduct annual COR audits and work with external auditors to coordinate COR recertification audits
  • Maintain and update major client's health and safety contractor qualifications using platforms such as ISNetworld, ComplyWorks, and Avetta
  • Coordinate with HR on Return-to-Work (RTW), modified duties, and WCB claims management.
  • Compile and analyze health and safety statistics, including TRIF, to find trends and make recommendations to stakeholders
  • Act as the company's liaison with OHS Officers and WCB representatives.

You're a Great Fit If You Have:

  • A minimum 3–5 years of health and safety management experience, ideally in an automotive, dealership, or light industrial setting
  • A diploma or degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field and CRSP or CHSC certification preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the Alberta and BC OHS legislation, WCB processes and hazard control strategies
  • Experience with incident investigations, hazard identification and multi-location safety program management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Strong ability to persuade and influence others; ability to build consensus, gain buy-in and inspire action across teams and stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license; willingness to travel regularly to locations across Alberta and into BC
