(Neegan) are expanding our team in conjunction with the recent opening of the Thunder Bay office, and we're seeking a Manager of Municipal Engineering to take a leading role in building our team and delivering meaningful infrastructure solutions across the North and West Region.

This is a unique opportunity to combine technical excellence with leadership – managing and mentoring a local team, developing client relationships, and overseeing a variety of projects including municipal infrastructure, land development, and community improvement initiatives in the region.

What You'll Achieve

  • Lead successful project delivery: Direct and motivate a team of engineers, technologists, and EITs to deliver innovative, constructible designs that meet client expectations and regulatory standards.
  • Shape infrastructure solutions: Collaborate with senior staff and clients to define project vision, scope, and design strategies that align with municipal priorities and sustainability goals.
  • Deliver high-quality designs: Oversee functional, preliminary, and detailed designs for public infrastructure—ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Lead municipal and land development projects: Deliver planning, design, and construction services for public infrastructure and private development projects.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous communities: Support projects that enhance infrastructure and community well-being in partnership with First Nations and Indigenous organizations across the region.
  • Drive project success: Manage budgets, schedules, and deliverables to achieve profitability targets while maintaining exceptional quality and client satisfaction.
  • Develop client partnerships: Strengthen relationships with municipal and regional clients through responsive communication, trusted technical advice, and proactive project management.
  • Grow our team: Mentor junior and intermediate engineers, helping them advance their technical and project management skills through coaching and formal development plans.
  • Enhance design practices: Collaborate with peers and CAD leaders to improve workflows and design standards across the organization.

What You Bring

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with at least 10 years of experience, registered and in good standing with PEO.
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Proven experience leading public infrastructure design projects from concept through construction.
  • Knowledge of municipal design criteria, TAC guidelines, OPS standards, and permitting requirements.
  • Strong understanding of road, sewer, watermain, and stormwater management design and construction.
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, sub-consultants, and project budgets.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including MS Project), with strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Field Services and contract administration experience would be a strong asset
  • A valid Ontario driver's license and vehicle.

This is your chance to kickstart your career by working on meaningful projects that impact communities. At Burnside, we prioritize mentorship and foster an environment where you can learn, grow, and thrive. You'll join a team that values innovation, teamwork, and a passion for the environment.

Why You'll Love Working Here

  • Contributing to the growth and development of a new office in Thunder Bay.
  • Meaningful, community-focused projects across the North and West Region.
  • Supportive environment where collaboration and knowledge-sharing are encouraged.
