Instructional Designer / Developer (Intermediate)
About Us
For more than a decade, we have worked shoulder to shoulder with the people who keep our industries moving, from the front line to the boardroom. We spent time underground in mines, gone to sea, and learned from workers, team leaders, supervisors, and executives alike. These shared experiences shaped our technologies and our purpose: to stop accidents before they happen and ensure every worker returns home safely and well.
Our innovations, built on the fusion of biometric, behavioral, and environmental intelligence, were not imagined in a lab. They were shaped together with the people they serve. Rooted in empathy and trust, we continue to transform safety by uniting human insight with predictive intelligence.
OUR VISION
Our vision is safer workplaces, where human insight and predictive, data-driven systems work together to prevent harm.
OUR MISSION
To protect people from harm and empower organizations to build safe, high-performing workforces.
OUR CORE VALUES
CARING
We care deeply about people, their safety, their families, and their well-being, and we exist to help prevent harm before it happens.
COURAGE
We believe in courage, the strength it takes to work together to keep each other safe.
COMMUNITY
We grow through community, rooted in trust, collaboration, and the belief that together, we can make every workplace safer.
Position Overview
We are looking for an innovative, resourceful, and high-performing Instructional Designer with 3–8 years of experience who can move fluidly between creativity and precision. In this role, you will design engaging, interactive, and purposeful learning experiences that bridge technical and behavioral knowledge, all in service of one goal: helping people stay safe and perform at their best.
You will collaborate across teams to transform complex ideas into compelling, human-centered learning experiences that integrate with our AI-driven products. From designing scripts and storyboards to developing immersive eLearning modules and visual media, you'll bring ideas from concept to implementation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop instructional content aligned with adult learning principles and safety-critical objectives.
- Write engaging scripts and storyboards for digital learning, animations, and video-based storytelling.
- Develop interactive eLearning modules using Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise) and other authoring tools.
- Produce or collaborate on animatics and motion graphics to visualize concepts.
- Integrate instructional design principles into AI-driven learning platforms.
- Collaborate with SMEs, project managers, developers, and data scientists to ensure accuracy and impact.
- Apply UX, accessibility, and microlearning best practices.
- Use analytics and learner data to refine and improve learning experiences.
- Contribute to project scoping, timelines, and documentation.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- 3–8 years of experience in instructional design, eLearning development, or related field.
- Proficiency in Articulate 360 (Storyline, Rise) and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop).
- Experience with Vyond, Camtasia, or similar tools for video and animation production.
- Solid understanding of instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning theory.
- Demonstrated ability to turn complex technical or behavioral information into clear, engaging, and intuitive content.
- Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
- Familiarity with SCORM/xAPI standards, LMS integration, and learning analytics.
- Experience designing for mobile learning, accessibility, and UX.
- Bachelor's degree in
education, instructional design, communications, or a related field
is preferred. However, if you do not have formal education in these areas but can demonstrate
exceptional skill, creativity, and experience
in developing learning content, we want to hear from you. - A strong portfolio showcasing your track record of creating impactful, well designed learning experiences. Your work speak louder than your credentials.
Required Behavioural Skills:
- Professionalism: Demonstrates discretion, integrity, and a polished communication style in all interactions.
- Organization and Time Management: Manages multiple priorities with precision and delivers results under tight timelines.
- Initiative: Anticipates needs, identifies issues before they arise, and takes proactive steps to resolve them.
- Attention to Detail: Maintains accuracy in all aspects of work, from correspondence to financial data.
- Collaboration: Builds strong working relationships with team members, clients, and partners to ensure smooth coordination.
- Adaptability: Responds effectively to changing priorities and project requirements.
- Confidentiality: Maintains a high degree of trust and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Communication: Articulates ideas clearly, both verbally and in writing, and ensures clarity in all professional correspondence.
- Dependability: Consistently meets deadlines, follows through on commitments, and supports the team's objectives.
- Commitment to Quality: Holds self and others accountable for maintaining high standards in every task.
You are:
- Driven by Curiosity: You dig in to understand, ask the right questions, and uncover innovative ways to teach complex ideas.
- Resourceful: When faced with a challenge, you find a way, testing, iterating, and finding creative solutions until it works.
- Adaptable: You're comfortable with change, ambiguity, and shifting priorities. You see these as opportunities to grow.
- Accountable: You own outcomes and deliver results, whether you are working independently or collaborating with a team.
- Collaborative: You value others' expertise and bring a positive, proactive attitude to every interaction.
- Results-Oriented: You balance creativity with discipline, ensuring every design choice drives learning and performance.
- Tech-Savvy: You are always exploring new tools, AI integrations, and digital innovations that elevate learning.
If you are the kind of person who thrives on challenge, learns fast, and takes pride in figuring things out, you will fit right in here.
