The Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in overseeing daily operations, ensuring smooth functionality of the bakery. Responsibilities include assisting with staff supervision, operational oversight, accurate financial and inventory data entry, supporting sales and customer service initiatives, and ensuring adherence to all health, safety, and quality standards.

Knowledge / Job Specific Competencies:

  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Previous experience in bakery, retail, or food service (minimum 1-2 years management experience preferred).
  • Valid Food Handler Certification.
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and numerical skills.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities:

Operational Support:

  • Assist in overseeing daily bakery operations, ensuring smooth workflow and efficient execution.
  • Monitor compliance with Public Health, Food Safety, and HACCP protocols.
  • Support inventory management, including order preparation, receiving stock, recording discrepancies, and assisting in regular stock audits.

Financial and Administrative Support:

  • Input daily and weekly sales, labour, COGS and other key performance metrics into reporting systems.
  • Assist with reviewing and managing store expenses to align with budget guidelines.
  • Support the Store Manager in preparation and submission of routine financial reports.

Team Support and Development:

  • Assist with staff scheduling, considering employee availability and store operational needs.
  • Provide training to new team members in customer service standards, bakery product knowledge, and operational procedures.
  • Help in fostering a positive work environment through consistent communication, team support, and motivational leadership.

Customer Experience:

  • Uphold exceptional customer service standards and address customer inquiries and complaints professionally.
  • Ensure customer orders, special requests, and concerns are managed efficiently and accurately.
  • Engage actively with customers, enhancing their in-store experience and fostering customer loyalty.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Monitor compliance with food safety, sanitation protocols, and other health regulations.
  • Participate actively in ensuring bakery cleanliness, organization, and overall store hygiene.
  • Assist in conducting regular safety checks and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Team Collaboration and Communication:

  • Facilitate clear and regular communication between store staff and management.
  • Collaborate effectively with other store managers and head office personnel to ensure seamless operational consistency.
  • Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
