Hybrize Design Inc. is an emerging Architecture and Engineering firm specializing in residential and commercial design-build projects across Alberta and British Columbia. Our firm integrates modern design, structural innovation, and lean construction practices to deliver high-quality, cost-efficient, and permit-ready solutions.

We are expanding our operations into British Columbia and are seeking a Structural Engineer (P.Eng.) licensed with EGBC to collaborate on our residential projects, including custom houses, duplexes, laneway homes, and small commercial builds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review, stamp, and sign structural drawings (foundation, framing, and seismic designs) per BC Building Code (BCBC 2018/2024) and relevant CSA standards.
  • Provide structural design and calculations for wood, steel, and concrete systems.
  • Review architectural and site drawings for compliance with design intent and code requirements.
  • Conduct site reviews and issue Schedule B & C letters for permitting.
  • Collaborate with our design team (architectural + drafting) to ensure efficient project delivery.
  • Offer technical support during permit submissions and construction coordination.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia (EGBC) — mandatory.
  • 3+ years of experience in residential and light commercial structural design.
  • Strong knowledge of NBCC, BCBC, CSA O86, S16, A23.3, and S304 standards.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD / Revit / RISA / S-Frame / Excel-based design sheets.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work remotely with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience with permit submissions in municipalities like Vancouver, Burnaby, and Surrey is an asset.
