About the Role

We are seeking a caring, dependable, and professional Childcare Worker to support a foster family caring for children aged 1 month to 9 years old in a nurturing home environment.

This position involves providing hands-on care and developmental support for several children, including a medically fragile infant and children with mental health and developmental needs. You will work closely with the foster parent and agency team to promote each child's physical, emotional, and social well-being in a trauma-informed, family-based setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, care, and engagement for children of various ages.
  • Assist with daily routines, including meals, playtime, education, and bedtime.
  • Support the care of a medically fragile infant under the direction of the foster parent and healthcare professionals.
  • Facilitate and participate in educational and recreational activities that encourage learning and growth.
  • Provide transportation for children to visits, appointments, and extracurricular activities as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with the foster parent, agency staff, and other professionals regarding the children's needs and progress.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
  • Perform light cleaning and household duties to maintain a safe and organized home environment.

Qualifications

  • Diploma/Degree in Child and Youth Services or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience working with children or youth in residential, childcare, or community settings.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and crisis intervention strategies.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Medical check required prior to employment.
  • Clear Broad Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.
  • Clean driver's abstract.

Hours and Schedule

  • Up to 60 hours per month currently available.
  • Shifts may be scheduled Monday through Sunday, including morning, day, afternoon, and evening shifts.
  • Hours are not guaranteed and may vary depending on the needs of the foster home.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $21.00-$23.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 14 per week
