EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – LEAD CARPENTER

Staffing Process Number: ACFN

  • The Athabasca Chipewyan First Nation (ACFN) is seeking to fill one (1) full-time permanent Lead Carpenter role.
  • One (1) full-time role; 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assigning and explaining tasks to the project team.
  • Adjust schedule as needed based on production realities.
  • Coordinating with tenants and homeowners to establish project timelines and completion schedules.
  • Creating and adjusting project schedules accordingly.
  • Ensuring all construction materials required for projects are on the job site or on order.
  • Supervising field carpenters, unskilled and semi-skilled workers, and subcontractors.
  • Performing all carpentry duties required, including both rough and finish carpentry.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all work done by the project team.

QUALIFICATIONS

High School Diploma or a GED; or completion of a carpentry apprenticeship program or a combination of education (grade 10), training and on-the-job work-related experience.

  • Proven 3-5 years of experience in residential remodeling or construction.
  • Sound knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, asset.
  • Clean 5-year Driver Abstract, not more than 30 days old.
  • Ability to safely operate power tools.
  • Must provide own basic tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
