Toronto, Ontario, Canada OpenTable Full time $108,000 - $120,000

With millions of diners, 60,000+ restaurant partners and 25+ years of experience, OpenTable, part of Booking Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKNG), is an industry leader with a passion for helping restaurants thrive. Our world-class technology empowers restaurants to focus on what matters most – their team, their guests, and their bottom line – while enabling diners to discover and book the perfect restaurant for every occasion.

Every employee at OpenTable has a tangible impact on what we do and how we do it. You'll also be part of a global team that includes its portfolio of metasearch brands. Hospitality is all about taking care of others, and it defines our culture.

The Position:

We are seeking a highly organized, technically minded self-starter to join our Global Engagement team as a Technical Engagement Marketing Manager. This role focuses on implementing and executing lifecycle and automated email marketing strategies across international markets, using an array of email marketing tools.

The ideal candidate is both technically capable and creatively attuned—able to build responsive, dynamic emails, collaborate closely with brand design, product, analytics, and engineering teams. Staying on top of cutting edge email marketing best practices and a 'make-it-work' mentality are key to success. If you're curious about restaurant and dining culture and want to contribute to impactful global campaigns, we'd love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, build, and execute email marketing campaigns and automation workflows across the customer journey (acquisition, onboarding, retention, re-engagement)

  • Develop dynamic and personalised email templates using HTML/CSS and scripting logic (e.g., Liquid, AMPscript)

  • Build and manage data tables and extensions to support campaign targeting, personalisation, and reporting, ensuring data structure scalability and accuracy

  • Architect and build automated, relevant life-cycle campaigns and event-based triggers in our ESP (MessageGears)

  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract performance insights from marketing and customer data

  • Serve as the technical subject matter expert on MessageGears—driving improvements in campaign performance, platform capabilities, and integration with internal systems

  • Use email-automation, dynamic content, data extensions and content libraries to help the team build and send relevant campaigns more efficiently

  • Work closely with our designers to build responsive emails for our customer journeys

  • Conduct A/B testing on subject lines, email content, and send times to continuously optimise performance

  • Analyse campaign performance metrics (open rate, CTR, conversion, etc.) and translate insights into actionable recommendations

  • Maintain a centralized Google Sheets-based campaign calendar, including forecasting, scheduling, and audience size prediction, to support planning and stakeholder visibility across teams

  • Be on top of email marketing best-practices and industry trends, bring fresh and innovative ideas to the team

  • Build and maintain a rapport with cross-functional teams including data analytics team, data science, product and tech teams, brand design and the local marketing teams

  • Create landing pages for our email campaigns

  • Mentor junior team members and champion operational excellence in campaign execution, QA, testing, and documentation

Please apply if:

  • 5-7 years of strong technical experience with ESPs, relational tables and dynamic content (MessageGears a plus, but not required)

  • Significant knowledge and experience with automating email campaigns, triggered campaigns and drip streams with an ESP Platform

  • Knowledge with SQL, HTML and CSS, including responsive design (NET, XML, JSON, JQuery, PHP or AMPScript a plus, but not required)

  • BSc/BA in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Programming, or related field; or equivalent experience with demonstrated proficiency is an asset

  • Ability to fix bugs and troubleshoot technical issues

  • Proficient knowledge in email marketing deliverability best practices

  • Experience testing and troubleshooting in multiple browsers or email clients with a strong sense of web design and user experience fundamentals

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment

  • Proven aptitude for creative problem solving with a strong attention to detail

  • Self-motivating and capable of handling multiple projects at the same time with minimal oversight

Benefits and Perks:

  • Work from (almost) anywhere for up to 20 days per year
  • Focus on mental health and well-being:
    • Company-paid therapy sessions through SpringHealth
    • Company-paid subscription to Headspace

We offer a competitive base salary and benefits including: health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave benefits. Work Environment & Flexibility

At OpenTable, we pride ourselves on fostering a global and dynamic work environment. As a team member with us, you will benefit from a schedule tailored to accommodate a global workforce operating across multiple time zones. While the majority of your responsibilities may align with conventional business hours, there will be instances where you are expected to manage communications - via calls, Slack messages, or emails - outside of regular working hours to effectively collaborate with international colleagues, respond to restaurant partners, and/or address urgent matters. OpenTable will always abide by and consider local laws and regulations.

We're committed to creating a workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive. We know the best ideas come when we bring different voices to the table, so we're building a team as dynamic as the diners and restaurants we serve—and fostering a culture where everyone feels welcome to be themselves.
