System Administrator Technical Lead

We are seeking an accomplished system administrator leader with strong technical capabilities and a desire to make a difference to join our dynamic and agile technology team.
At Rebel, we're in the middle of a bold reinvention. We were early to market and established as a powerhouse in the domain registrar arena. Now we're looking for someone who's ready to help us take it further.
This isn't just a support role. You'll be embedded in a tight-knit, nimble team of engineers and developers, working across both live production and new cloud-based infrastructure. From web hosting to email, DNS to domain management, you'll help power the services that keep thousands of websites online—and make sure they're fast, secure, and future-proof.

About this roleYou'll lead by example—guiding a small team while shipping reliable, scalable infrastructure. You'll own outcomes across performance, availability, security, and cost, and you'll have room to simplify legacy systems while accelerating our move to cloud-native services.
What you will doLeadership & DeliveryAgile and technical team leadership (scrum master, people management)Support the leadership team with long-term planningContribute to the creation, improvement, and monitoring of service and team KPIsCustomer & Production SupportProvide second-level support for customer websites, applications, and emailOccasional after-hours support (typically up to 1–2 incidents per week)
Hosting & PlatformMaintain and improve our hosting offerings: Plesk, Managed WordPress, Virtuozzo VPS servers, and others
Support DNS and domain management workflows in production
Cloud & InfrastructureMaintain and optimize existing infrastructure including AWS and other compute servicesDesign scalable cloud-based infrastructures
Work on client migrations to support them and improve efficiencies
Reliability, Performance & CostMonitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and resolve them efficiently
Monitor cost; propose and execute initiatives to improve service quality and cost efficiency
Systems, Databases & ScriptingAdminister Unix/Linux and Windows-based systemsAdminister database systems (MSSQL, MySQL)
Code and script using a wide variety of open-source technologies and tools
Modernization & AutomationWork with infrastructure-as-code toolsResearch, develop, and implement the latest technologies in the cloud (AWS)Re-imagine legacy systems and replace them with newer technologiesContribute to IT operations processesAutomate manual processes
What you bringExperience8+ years in cloud, infrastructure, and system administration with a proven problem-solving track record8+ years in enterprise Linux and Windows DevOps, configuration management, software development, and agile processes5+ years with scripting languages such as Bash, Perl, Python, or JavaScript3+ years leading technical teams3+ years leading agile projects and serving as scrum masterDeep proficiency in system administration, security, networking, and web technologiesDetailed understanding of core network protocols and services (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, REST/SOAP, FTPS/SFTP, DNS, SSL/TLS, firewalls, load balancers)Advanced knowledge of AWS services: EC2, VPC, S3, ELB, EBS, RDS, Route 53, Docker, ServerlessExperience with source control, automated builds, and continuous integrationAnalytical skills for performance measurement and data-driven decisionsLove for clean, scalable, repeatable infrastructureA collaborative attitude—you support what you build and help others level up
