Senior Substation Engineer – Surrey, BC

Full-time employee (hourly pay)

Schedule:
Mon–Thu in office, Friday half-day remote (7:30 am – 11 am)

Over 40 hours a week, employees can bank hours or time paid at regular rate.

We are seeking an experienced
Senior Substation Engineer
to join a growing engineering team in Surrey, BC. This role offers the chance to work on high-profile energy and infrastructure projects and to collaborate with a technically diverse group of professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead substation and transmission design projects (69 kV – 500 kV) from concept through construction and commissioning
  • Develop single-line diagrams, layouts, grounding details, conduit and cable routing plans
  • Interface with protection & control, structural, and civil disciplines
  • Prepare and review specifications, design documents, and material take-offs
  • Support procurement, construction, and commissioning activities
  • Mentor junior engineers and support cross-discipline coordination
  • Maintain strong client relationships and represent the team in a professional manner

Candidate Profile

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • P.Eng. with EGBC (or immediate eligibility)
  • 8–15 years of substation design experience with utilities or EPCs
  • Proven expertise on high-voltage projects (69 kV – 500 kV)
  • Strong understanding of industry standards (CSA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE)
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to lead projects and teams

Preference for candidates based in, or willing to relocate to, Surrey due to the importance of in-office collaboration
