Based in Cabo San Lucas - We want to work towards having beautiful, well running, well maintained and really nice, safe ships. This requires a mix of fast and efficient repairs with good spares in inventory in the warehouse. Combined with forward looking action to support proactive maintenance and annual refits. We have no hesitation to invest in spares and inventory to support staff to ensure the smooth-running operation of the ships. At the same time every ship must be beautiful and sparkling and clean and dry, well painted with hoses replaced every 5 years and all other myriad of responsibilities for the ship's smoothly. The port engineer's responsibility is to spearhead the turnarounds, the repairs of the ships, the cleanliness and tidiness of the warehouses and organizations, and to work with the Captains and the Engineers to keep the ships running well.

Job Requirements

· Good understanding of marine engineering. That includes engines, gearboxes, pumps, welding, painting, pipe fitting. Knowledge of carpentry is nice but not a requirement for this position.

· Drivers license

· Integrity is always a must. Always without question.

· Good communication. Spanish is expected. English is a bonus but not required.

· Using email isn't essential, but the ability to use WhatsApp is required.

Duties

· Prepare and execute on the maintenance and repair of each of the larger liveaboard boats on their turnarounds. A well-organized turnaround is key to smooth operations and safety and excellence in guest experience.

· A tight liaison and mutual respect with the captain and crew on the ship. The staff shoreside is essential. This must be team play. Never two teams. We are all aligned in the same supporting safety and excellence in guest experience.

· Even handed and mutually respectful management of direct reports is essential.

· Clear and good communication. Everyone is of the understanding what the goal posts are.

· Costing and expenses. We can do stuff the expensive way or we can do it the smart way. Buy bulk from the United States and wholesalers. We want to spend our maintenance budget on proactive maintenance and on wages and on the ships. There is no point in throwing it away by retail purchases in small amounts.

· Record keeping is important.
