Sexual Violence Support Counsellor- Crisis & Support Program
Calgary Communities Against Sexual Abuse (CCASA) is a dynamic agency that focuses on providing sexual violence counselling and education services to Calgary and surrounding areas. As a Sexual Violence Support Counsellor you will be part of the Crisis and Support team. The successful candidate will be a compassionate, flexible, and organized individual who is able to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team to provide crisis intervention, information, support, advocacy, and referrals, both over the phone and in person to clients accessing CCASA services.
This is a full-time (35 hours/week) position, reporting to the Crisis and Support Program Supervisor. If you have a great attitude and possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence, this may be the job for you.

Key Responsibilities of the Sexual Violence Support Counsellor-Crisis & Support Program include:
• Providing support and crisis intervention to individuals accessing both CCASA's Support and Information Line as well as Alberta's One-Line for Sexual Violence via phone, text, and online chat
• Providing crisis intervention and support in person, as a member of the Calgary Sexual Assault Response Team (CSART), to individuals who have experienced sexual assault within the last 168 hours
• Responding to and supporting disclosures of sexual abuse/assault in a professional and supportive manner
• Completing thorough risk and needs assessments
• Completing collaborative safety plans when required
• Providing information, advocacy, and referrals as well as assistance with system navigation
• Connecting current and prospective clients to CCASA programs, including providing program information and appointment booking support.
• Providing consultation and information to professionals and other community members
• Working collaboratively with professionals from other disciplines
• Contributing to and maintaining a strong referral database
• Completing required administrative tasks including data entry and documentation
• Assisting with training CCASA staff, volunteers and students for both the line/chat/text services and the CSART program
• Participating in a number of on-call shifts after hours over the course of the year as part of a
rotation
• Other duties as required
Qualifications of the successful applicant will include the following:
• Bachelor of Social Work or other degree in social/human services with related work experience (registration with a regulating body is preferred)
• Possess an anti-oppressive/feminist analysis of sexual violence
• Strong assessment and crisis intervention skills
• Demonstrated effective communication, advocacy, boundary setting and rapport building skills
• Knowledge of community resources within Calgary and surrounding areas
• Ability to build professional relationships within a multi-disciplinary team
• Strong conflict resolution skills
• Strong multi-tasking skills and a high level of organization
• Ability to work within a team environment and independently
• Creative problem-solving skills and an ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
• Knowledge of Alberta College of Social Workers Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, including a strong understanding of the duty to report
• Must be registered if degree falls under a regulatory body
• Must have access to a reliable vehicle
**This position is not remote and requires working from the office.
Successful applicants will be required to work some evenings and weekends.
