The CONNECT Finance Leader (Associate Controller) juggles the financial needs of CONNECT Communities. They bring analytical prowess and excellent communication to elevate our accounting processes, financial stewardship and planning. They also coordinate relevant, timely, and accurate financial and statistical information gathering and reporting to the CEO, Owner and Leadership Team. The Finance Leader is responsible for full cycle accounting preparation, creating budgets and forecasts and providing financial and analytical support to CONNECT's leaders.

The CONNECT Finance Leader completes regular financial reporting to funders, periodic forecast and annual budget preparation, year-end activities, coordination with internal and external accountants, and development and adherence to required internal controls and relevant accounting policies.

The CONNECT Finance Leader works closely and collaborates with the CFO, CEO, and Director of Culture, People and Services. They are also in communication with the Site Leader at each CONNECT location. From these interactions, the Finance Leader is responsible to create budgets and dashboards so the team has a visual of how the financial picture looks and what operational changes could be made to align with budgets.

The CONNECT Finance Leader reports directly to the CFO and Owner, and works with the Group Controller in consolidating financial, accounting and year end activities with a larger group of companies.

Accounting/Financial Leadership

  • Full Cycle accounting and responsibility for CONNECT'S corporate entities
  • Working with a small financial team
  • Collaboration with leaders and administration across six sites
  • Sharing financial intelligence through budgets, dashboards and regular meetings.
  • Supporting the Operational and Site Leadership to align operations with financial results and stewardship.
  • Collaborate on financial strategies that support the organization's vision and goals.
  • Provide insights to guide leadership decision-making, risk management, and long-term sustainability.
  • Partner with other leaders to align financial planning with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor performance against goals and provide clear reporting on financial health.
  • Identify trends, opportunities, and risks to inform proactive action
  • Reporting to CFO and working with Group Controller to align activities and results
Stewardship and Accountability
  • Safeguard CONNECT's assets and advise responsible use of resources.
  • Collaborate with CFO and Group Controller to develop internal controls, policies, and ethical practices.
  • Optimize resource use across departments, balancing efficiency with impact.
  • Evaluate and strengthen systems, processes, and technology for financial management.
Collaborative Leadership
  • Work across CONNECT to support programs, projects, and innovation.
  • Translate financial information into clear, actionable insights.
  • Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of inclusion and accountability.
External Relationships
  • Build trust with stakeholders such as funders and community partners.
  • Represent the organization's financial stewardship with transparency and credibility.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • CPA designation
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in senior financial management/accounting role
  • Experience conducting or managing full-cycle accounting and audits
  • Proficient with SAGE Accounting, Excel and MS 365 Office Environment and Applications
  • IT Savvy and Familiar with AI Integration
  • Financial Modelling and Analysis
  • Creating Budgets and Dashboards
  • Payroll, Billing & AR, Payables, and Related Filing Experience
  • You are a great communicator, with ability/desire to manage a team.
  • Entrepreneurial thinker
