Remote Canada Plooto Full time $90,000 - $120,000 per year
About Plooto

Plooto is a Canada-born fintech company on a mission to give small and mid-sized businesses the financial power to succeed on their own terms. We make payments secure, accurate, and stress-free so businesses and their accountants can spend less time in the books, confidently manage cash flow, and make smarter decisions every day. We're a team that builds with integrity, agility, and heart, and we're looking for customer-minded pros who share our passion to join us as we scale.

About the Role

We're hiring a Senior Financial Analyst to elevate the depth, accuracy, and impact of financial decision-making at Plooto. This is a foundational hire as we evolve from a centralized finance engine to a more distributed, insight-led FP&A model. You'll be our first dedicated functional finance partner — connecting business performance to financial outcomes across GTM, Product, and more. As our operational footprint expands, your work will help shape how finance partners with the broader organization. Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and working in collaboration with our existing Senior Financial Analyst, you'll play a critical role in analyzing performance drivers, surfacing actionable insights, and ensuring they're reflected in our budgets, forecasts, and month-end reporting.

This role is designed to complement our existing financial foundation. You won't just update templates — you'll dig into the "why" behind financial trends, pressure-test assumptions, and partner with stakeholders to close the loop between insights and planning. Whether it's unpacking weekly and monthly fluctuations in FX Revenue, unlocking our understanding of Float Revenue, or forecasting working capital, you'll bring analytical curiosity and storytelling skills that help leaders make smarter decisions, faster.

At Plooto, we have broad visibility into top-line trends — but limited capacity to double-click into what's really driving them. This role will require persistence and initiative: you'll need to follow the signal, ask the second question, and collaborate across teams to surface the underlying insight behind the numbers. The insights you generate will directly shape decisions across pricing, GTM focus, cost strategy, and OPEX planning.

Ideally, you'll also lead the expansion of our process automations leveraging Vena, our FP&A tool. While the tool is currently in place, its potential remains untapped and this is a core opportunity for you to modernize our workflows, reduce manual overhead, and build scalable planning infrastructure that lasts beyond the next month-end and free up the team to focus on strategic partnership across the business.

Over time, your work will help shape a more adaptive and insight-driven finance function — one that's more strategic, helping Plooto stay nimble, compliant, and cost-conscious as we scale.

If you love finding signal in the noise, turning numbers into actionable insights, and building for scale, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze and explain financial performance — connect the dots between business activity and financial outcomes across revenue, expense, and margin lines.
  • Uncover the "why" behind the numbers — investigate trends, validate assumptions, and translate findings into clear, actionable insights.
  • Be a thought partner to business leaders — connecting financial insight to strategy, challenging assumptions, and shaping decisions with data.
  • Develop and iterate financial models that reflect real-time learnings, business priorities, and strategic trade-offs.
  • Leverage data directly — write SQL queries, work hands-on with large datasets, and build frameworks that turn operational metrics into financial impact.
  • Distill complex analyses into crisp stories for executive and board-level audiences, focusing on what matters most and why.
  • Collaborate across the finance team to refine forecasting, budgeting, and reporting processes as Plooto scales.
  • Drive continuous improvement in how we use data and insight to shape decisions, not just describe results.
Qualifications
  • 4–6 years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or business analytics — ideally within a SaaS, FinTech, or other recurring-revenue business.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills — you know how to move from data to insight to action.
  • Proficiency with SQL and comfort working directly with large, complex datasets; you don't wait for data — you go find it.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling experience, with the ability to adapt models to reflect real-time learning and evolving business priorities.
  • Exceptional communication and storytelling ability — you can translate complex analyses into simple, persuasive narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative mindset — you thrive in cross-functional environments and see yourself as a partner to business leaders, not just a reporter of results.
  • Curious and self-starting — you ask great questions, follow the signal behind trends, and build frameworks that make finance smarter over time.
  • Experience working with SaaS metrics (e.g., ARR, MRR, churn, CAC, LTV, payback) is a strong asset.
Why Become a Plootonian?

If you're looking to make a meaningful impact, look no further. We're transforming the payments space in North America by delivering an unrivalled product experience to solve a real and pressing problem for SMBs.

The biggest reason small businesses fail is poor financial management and cash flow — and Plooto fixes that. We have strong product-market fit, a massive opportunity ahead, and the backing of experienced fintech leaders.

You'll join a team that cares deeply about customer impact, takes pride in our craft, and moves with urgency. We're just getting started — and you'll help shape the next chapter of our growth story.
