Job Description

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated GIS Specialist to join our team in London, Ontario.

As a GIS Specialist, you will contribute to impactful projects by leveraging your technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to produce, manage, and analyze geospatial data.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize GIS software and tools to produce, display, and analyze geographic information.
  • Develop and maintain geospatial databases, reports, and maps.
  • Create, organize, manipulate, and retrieve GIS data for reporting, analysis, and presentation purposes.
  • Perform quality assurance and control of GIS data and associated graphic components.
  • Support digital data collection initiatives and provide GIS-related guidance to project teams.
  • Prepare and update metadata for geospatial datasets.
  • Extract and deliver GIS data to clients, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Provide technical support and training to new users of GIS
  • Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member on multidisciplinary projects.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Sciences, Water Resources, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant GIS experience
  • Post-graduate degree or diploma specializing in GIS
  • Background in water resources or environmental science and familiar with associated GIS processes related to terrain conditioning, watershed delineation and characterization, and utility network analysis
  • Proficiency in ESRI software, including ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Pro, with the ability to troubleshoot common errors
  • Experience with online mapping platform development including ArcGIS Online, Portal, and tools such as Survey123 and Web Apps
  • Understanding of relational database design and functionality
  • Experience with raster and vector geospatial data processing and analysis
  • Working knowledge of LiDAR and raster processing techniques
  • Strong skills in cartographic design and map production
  • Basic application development skills using ModelBuilder, Python, or Visual Basic
  • Familiarity with CAD programs
  • Proficient Microsoft Excel skills
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Valid Canadian driver's license
