Core Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor import and export shipments for trucking operations, ensuring that all freight clears customs within schedule.​
  • Prepare, review, and process customs documentation such as commercial invoices, certificates of origin, and bills of lading.
  • Communicate with customs brokers, truck drivers, logistics providers, and government agencies to ensure compliance with customs laws.​
  • Maintain accurate and current records of customs documentation and declarations for auditing and compliance purposes.​
  • Verify customs classifications (HS codes) and determine applicable duties and taxes.​
  • Manage duty recovery processes, such as duty drawback claims and customs relief requests where applicable.​
  • Support internal teams with updates on customs policies, border regulations, and documentation requirements.
  • Track and report on all incoming and outgoing truck shipments, ensuring that customs releases are obtained promptly.​
  • Flag and process overpayment corrections or refund requests with customs authorities.​

Skills and Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customs clearance procedures, particularly for truck freight into and out of Canada and the U.S..​
  • Familiarity with government systems such as CBSA (Canada Border Services Agency) and CBP (U.S. Customs and Border Protection).
  • Expert understanding of international trade documentation and tariff classification (HS codes).
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with customs or logistics management software and Microsoft Office applications.​
  • Education in supply chain management, logistics, or international trade; certification such as Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) is often preferred.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is advantageous in cross-border logistics environments.​

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.05-$41.80 per hour
