SUMMARY

The Production Arborist's primary responsibility is to prune or remove all sizes of trees and whenever possible, to provide mentorship to junior arborists. In addition, she/he will assist in groundwork and equipment maintenance. At all times, she/he will be responsible for working in a safe and professional manner to the established quality guidelines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Primary Responsibilities

Safely climb all species and sizes of trees.

Prune or remove all sizes of trees in keeping with the ISA guidelines.

Mentor junior climbers, teaching safe work practices and techniques, providing

constructive criticism, and coaching.

Secondary Responsibilities

Cut, pile, haul and chip brush & wood debris and operate stumper as required; maintain a clean, organized job-site and ensure complete cleanup of all debris.

Operate knuckle boom crane and bucket truck as required.

Assist in maintaining climbing saws, ropes, pole pruners and saddles in good working

order; advise Supervisor when supplies or maintenance are required.

Other responsibilities

Ensure the safe use of equipment and tools through proper operation and maintenance.

Comply with all government (health, safety and environmental) regulations, and all

company work & safety rules, ensuring a safe workplace and practicing safe work

practices at all times.

Report potential hazards, accidents and equipment problems immediately.

Duties as assigned by Supervisor from time to time.

WORKING CONDITIONS

A workweek is 45 hours, however hours vary depending upon demand, weather and

unforeseen circumstances.

Work is conducted outdoors, January-December, in all weather conditions.

Lifting, carrying of heavy objects (15-50lbs) bending, reaching required on daily basis.

Handling of hazardous equipment required.

Minimum 1 year of tree climbing experience**

G License is required, though a DZ license is an asset.

Education is not required, though it is an asset.

Full time hourly position with 40-50 hours weekly. Compensation based on qualifications and experience.

Benefits given after 3 months on job

Annual performance bonus

$200 Boot Allowance per year
