On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Web Development Specialist – WordPress. This role serves as a technical expert and strategic collaborator, offering guidance on user experience, accessibility, privacy, cloud deployment, and operational excellence. It involves close coordination with business stakeholders, IT professionals, and senior leadership to deliver innovative and sustainable web solutions that support long-term organizational goals.
Responsibilities:
• Web Application Design and Development
o Lead WordPress website development and custom plugin development.
o Design responsive, accessible, and user-friendly interfaces.
o Translate business and user requirements into wireframes, prototypes, and functional specifications.
o Implement best practices in UX, accessibility, performance, and security.
• Requirements Gathering and Documentation
o Lead the elicitation, analysis, and documentation of business, functional, and technical requirements.
o Develop a Requirements Traceability Matrix (RTM) to ensure alignment from requirements through to implementation.
o Validate requirements with stakeholders and maintain version-controlled documentation for approvals.
• Project Coordination and Management
o Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, including tasks, milestones, dependencies, and resource assignments.
o Facilitate regular project meetings, status updates, and report to stakeholders and governance committees.
o Track project risks, issues, and changes, ensuring timely escalation and resolution.
o Ensure alignment across business, technical, and vendor teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Training and Change Management
o Develop user training materials, quick reference guides, and knowledge transfer documentation.
o Coordinate and deliver training sessions for end users and administrators.
o Support communication and change management strategies to facilitate adoption of the new system.
• Implementation, Migration, and Testing Support
o Develop and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) plans, coordinating participation from stakeholders and end users.
o Identify and document issues, risks, and mitigation strategies during implementation.
o Support the migration of existing content and configurations to new WordPress environments or applications.
o Collaborate with technical teams to ensure smooth deployment and minimal disruption to users.
• Maintenance and Continuous Improvement
o Monitor website and application performance.
o Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
o Maintain up-to-date, secure, and scalable web applications.
• Strategic and Transformational Projects
o Lead digital initiatives aligned with departmental priorities.
o Develop information architectures, user flows, and navigation models.
o Provide strategic guidance and design authority on digital projects.
• Innovation and Capacity Building
o Mentor colleagues and provide training to support teams.
o Share knowledge and implement sustainable and innovative solutions.
o Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices.
Qualifications:
Mandatory Requirements:
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites, including custom themes and plugins.
• Minimum 7 years of experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, including development, troubleshooting, and optimization of web applications.
• Minimum 7 years of experience designing responsive web interfaces and applying UX principles aligned with WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards.
• Minimum 7 years of familiarity with cloud hosting environments, DNS configuration, and automated deployment practices for secure and efficient web application deployment.
• Minimum 7 years of knowledge and application of privacy, security, and compliance standards relevant to government web services.
• Minimum 7 years of proven ability to identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues across multiple environments and platforms.
• Minimum 7 years of experience as a Programmer Analyst specializing in website development and maintenance.
Scored Requirements:
• Minimum 7 years of experience leading digital transformation initiatives or large-scale web projects, aligning technical solutions with business strategy and user needs.
• Minimum 7 years of experience with modern web design and development frameworks (e.g., Gutenberg, React, ), including custom development and integration.
• Minimum 7 years of experience implementing or managing version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines to improve development efficiency and collaboration.
• Minimum 7 years of experience communicating complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders through presentations, documentation, or workshops.
• Minimum 2 years of experience mentoring or training junior staff, promoting knowledge sharing and team skill development.
• Minimum 7 years of experience producing clear, comprehensive documentation and project deliverables for both technical and non-technical audiences.
