Job Overview
We are seeking a Technical Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the procurement process, ensuring that our manufacturing operations are well-supported with the necessary materials and supplies. This position requires expertise in vendor management, negotiation, and sourcing, along with a strong understanding of supply chain dynamics. The Buyer will collaborate closely with various departments to optimize purchasing strategies and maintain cost-effective practices.
Duties
- Senior Technical Buyer: Kitchener
· Prepare RFQ bid packages for commodities, including different types of steel, and castings, machined parts, Aluminum, negotiate agreements, and manage the contracts.
· Negotiate terms, prices, and contracts with suppliers to establish favorable agreements.
· Experience sourcing commodities globally, along with an understanding of various manufacturing processes, including machining and fabrication.
· Works closely with senior managers to review the RFQ process, supplier quote proposals, and prepare analysis of supplier quotes.
· Works closely with suppliers to target and deliver cost savings. Evaluate root cause and corrective action with suppliers for late delivery and performance.
· Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to foster partnerships and to secure a high level of service.
· Coordinates with the materials team to ensure the integrity of the supply chain, and deliveries are on time.
· Work with different engineering teams to successfully launch new programs.
· Maintain accurate files and documentation. Conduct searches of technical journals to identify possible new suppliers and market trends.
Requirements
- Proven experience in procurement or purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of vendor management practices and negotiation techniques.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, along with strong computer skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $75,000.00-$85,000.00 per year
