Since 2009, Nextologies has helped clients transform and accelerate their businesses through world-class broadcast technology and infrastructure. Trusted by major broadcasters and enterprise corporations, we deliver and manage tailored solutions that power the future of live television.

Innovation drives everything we do and diversity drives innovation. We're proud to be an equal-opportunity employer, and we value people for their ideas, curiosity, and drive. Join a team where your technical skills matter, and your contribution has real impact.

Position Overview:

We're looking for a VNOC Broadcast Jr. Engineer with technical skills in broadcast and network systems to join our operations team. The candidate should have some hands-on experience with video and audio signal processing, IP networking, monitoring, and broadcast workflows. You will help maintain, troubleshoot, optimize, and scale our systems — with senior support available as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain live video/audio signal quality (both SDI and IP) including encoding, decoding, transcoding pipelines.
  • Troubleshoot signal chain problems end-to-end: from ingestion, through routing, to output / distribution.
  • Set up and manage monitoring & alerting tools: e.g. multiviewers, analysers, to name a few.
  • Manage backup and redundancy systems: failovers, redundancy for critical paths, disaster recovery readiness.
  • Perform software / firmware updates for broadcast hardware (encoders, decoders, routers, etc.).
  • Maintain documentation of systems, architecture diagrams, SOPs, incident post-mortems.
  • Liaise with upstream / downstream teams (e.g. content providers, CDN, cloud vendors) to ensure smooth integration and performance.
  • Knowledge of IP networking is an asset (e.g., knowing what switches and routers do).
  • Communicate directly with clients during troubleshooting or incident resolution, both by email and phone, ensuring clear, professional, and timely updates. Strong communication skills and client relationship etiquette are essential.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in broadcast operations or similar video delivery systems is a plus, but candidates with relevant transferable skills are equally encouraged to apply.
  • Deep understanding of video/audio signal flow (SDI, IP, etc.), codecs, transcoders, multiplexers.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, multicast, switching, routing, firewalls, WAN/LAN, VLANs) is an asset.
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting/monitoring tools.
  • Experience with Linux (or similar) for system administration / troubleshooting.
  • Comfortable with hardware + software mix (encoders/decoders, routers, servers).
  • Some scripting / automation experience is a plus.
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills; ability to respond quickly during live events or outages.
  • Documentation, written & communication skills - This is a must.
  • Only candidates that are flexible to work a rotating 24/7 shift schedule and on-call if needed, including overnights, weekends, and holidays will be considered.

Compensation:

  • Compensation: $60,000 per year
  • Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (Salary)
  • Compensation will be re-evaluated after the three-month probationary period, based on performance.

Schedule:

  • Rotating shifts — mornings, afternoons, overnights
  • Monday to Sunday (includes weekends and holidays)
  • Candidates will only be considered if they are flexible to work any shift with no limitations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Markham, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Education:

  • DCS / DEC (preferred)

Language:

  • English (required)

Work Location: In person
