We take pride in handling everything in-house — from roll forming and fabrication to logistics and delivery. Our team is growing, and we're looking for a Yard Lead / Forklift Operator to take charge of daily yard operations, material movement, and safe, accurate loading.

Job Summary

The Yard Lead / Forklift Operator is responsible for organizing, loading, and maintaining the BarrierBoss production yard. This role combines hands-on forklift operation with leadership responsibilities for material staging, order accuracy, and yard safety. You'll work directly with our production and logistics teams to keep the flow of materials smooth, safe, and efficient.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate forklifts to move panels, coils, and kits across production zones and loading areas.
  • Maintain organized and clearly labeled yard lanes.
  • Verify outgoing orders, confirm counts, and ensure correct strapping and balance on trailers.
  • Supervise hog wire cutting and packing accuracy.
  • Schedule and coordinate waste bin pickups and material disposal.
  • Complete daily forklift safety inspections and log maintenance issues.
  • Work closely with the production and logistics leads to manage coil staging and trailer preparation.
  • Support coil handling, banding, and outdoor storage organization.
  • Conduct monthly physical inventory counts and report discrepancies.
  • Maintain yard safety standards and enforce PPE and safe operation rules.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of forklift experience in a manufacturing or construction yard.
  • Valid forklift certification (or willingness to obtain within 30 days).
  • Strong understanding of load balance, strapping, and safe material handling.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or logistics environments is an asset.
