Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and organized Yard Coordinator to oversee daily operations at our warehouse facility. This role is essential in managing the movement of goods, coordinating heavy equipment, and ensuring efficient shipping and receiving processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong warehouse experience, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to operate various types of heavy equipment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic team responsible for maintaining smooth logistics and inventory flow within a fast-paced environment.

Duties

  • Coordinate the loading and unloading of shipments using heavy equipment such as cranes, forklifts, clamp trucks, and order pickers
  • Manage warehouse distribution activities, including order picking, shipping, and receiving operations
  • Operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with safety protocols
  • Oversee the movement of materials within the yard, including construction materials if applicable
  • Maintain accurate records using warehouse management systems (WMS) for inventory control and tracking
  • Assist with heavy lifting tasks and ensure proper handling of materials to prevent damage or injury
  • Load and unload trucks, ensuring timely processing of incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Supervise yard activities to optimize space utilization and workflow efficiency
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment such as forklifts and cranes, reporting any maintenance needs

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in warehouse distribution, shipping & receiving, or related logistics roles
  • Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation such as forklifts, cranes, clamp trucks, and order pickers
  • Prior experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) is preferred
  • Ability to operate heavy machinery safely and efficiently in a construction or warehouse setting
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in inventory management and record keeping
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in a physically demanding environment
  • Knowledge of safety procedures related to heavy equipment operation and warehouse activities
  • Experience working with order picking systems and managing warehouse workflows is desirable
