Demeter Veterinary Services is part of a Canadian team of 20 veterinarians dedicated to the swine industry. The head office is located in Lévis, Quebec, while operations are performed from Woodstock, Ontario. We support swine producers in Ontario, but also across Canada through the collaboration with 3 other veterinary offices and pharmacies (Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta). Customer service and support is our top priority. Your first priority will be to serve Ontario producers. In addition, you will also work closely with the full DVS team in order to continuously improve the different services provided to the entire Canadian customer base.
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Swine Specialist to join our team.
Demeter is seeking a dedicated and experienced Swine Specialist to join our production team. This individual will play a key role in the daily management, monitoring, and optimization of sow, nursery, and finishing operations. The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience in swine production, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
This position requires flexible hours, including occasional weekend work, to support our clients' health and performance of their herds.
General Duties:
- Maintain accurate records and follow company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide technical support to clients, including on-farm visits
- Provide hands-on assistance to farms when needed
- Support team in vaccinations on farm
- Support data collection, performance monitoring, and staff training as needed.
- Ensure all on-farm activities meet Demeter's biosecurity and welfare standards.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions.
- Perform weekend duties on a rotational basis as needed.
- Demonstrate strong time management skills with flexibility in start and end times.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 2–3 years of hands-on experience in swine production (sow barn, nursery, and/or finishing).
- Post-secondary education in Animal Science, Agriculture, or related field preferred.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays as required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Compensation
- Starting rate is $23.00 and is negotiable based on experience
