Material Handler

Job Summary:
The Material Handler is responsible for operating a variety of material handling equipment for the purpose of moving, locating, relocating, stacking and counting merchandise. The equipment utilized in these functions may include forklifts, pallet jacks, slip sheets, and clamps. The material handler is responsible for the safe and efficient use of these vehicles. The Material Handler is also responsible for order selection and checking as the need dictates.
Duties/Responsibilities:Unloads inbound shipments safely and moves product to the storage locationsEfficiently stacks and stores the product in the appropriate area(s)Prior to product storage, counts all product, comparing counts to the drivers manifest and checks all shipments for damage, infestation and production code dates, and reports shortages, damages and misplacements to your immediate supervisor who will forward the information to the appropriate partiesPulls and prepares product for shipmentEfficiently moves product from the staging or storage areas into rail cars or trailers.Loads, unloads, moves, stacks and stages product and materials using a forklift, pallet jack, clamps, slip sheet or other power equipmentInspects and verify equipment is operating prior to the start of the day's activityKeeps appropriate records and reports to guarantee that tight inventory control and security are maintainedAssists in physical inventories, ensuring the proper stock rotationMaintains a clean, neat and orderly work areaAssists in maintaining the security of the warehouse, and conducts operations in a manner, which promotes safety.Other duties

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills/Abilities:Ability to understand and follow English instructions preferred.Capable of following verbal and written instructionsCapable of operating facility material handling equipment (OSHA certified on forklifts, reach trucks, hand trucks) and their attachmentsBasic understanding and utilization of RF scanning equipmentHave good arithmetic skillsBe available for various shiftsHave no fear of heightsMaintain regular consistent and professional attendance, punctuality, personal appearance, and adherence to relevant health & safety procedures.Follow company policies, procedures and guidelines, employ safe work practices.Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for the effective performance of the role.Education and Experience:High school diploma or equivalent.Minimum 90 Day Temporary LaborLicense or Certificate Requirements:Forklift driver certificationForklift attachment(s) certificationTravel Requirements: Never

Heavy – able to stand for long periods of time (over 6 hours)
Work Environment
Medium – must be able to endure working in freezer environment for up to 6 hours

Heavy – must be able to endure loud warehouse noises and have accurate vision to work in a freezer environment
