Commercial/ Municipal Landscape Construction Foreman

The Role You'll Play
As a Commercial/ municipal Construction Crew Leader, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of a construction crew, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, safely, and according to design specifications. You will work closely with management to guarantee high-quality installations and project owner satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, hands-on work, and a commitment to safety and excellence.
Your Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Supervision
- Direct and manage the activities of a construction crew.
- Train and mentor team members on best practices and safety procedures.
- Plan daily schedules and ensure all necessary materials and equipment are available.
- Monitor crew performance and provide guidance to improve skills and work quality.
- Landscape Construction
- Lead the installation of excavation, site prep, grading, drainage works, retaining walls, hardscapes, and playgrounds
- Oversee planting of trees, shrubs, flowers, and sod, ensuring proper techniques for long-term growth.
- Operate and maintain tools, machinery, and large equipment to ensure safe and efficient use.
- Quality Control & Problem-Solving
- Inspect work throughout the project to ensure adherence to company sand project standards.
- Address any issues or deficiencies, making necessary adjustments.
- Communicate with clients and supervisors regarding project progress and potential challenges.
- Safety & Compliance
- Enforce job site safety, ensuring crew members follow safety protocols and wear required PPE.
- Conduct safety meetings and toolbox talks to address potential hazards.
- Report accidents, injuries, or equipment damage immediately and take steps to prevent further incidents.
- Client & Team Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact between the crew and project owner, providing updates on project status.
- Maintain positive relationships with project team by ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
- Provide feedback to management regarding crew performance and any equipment or training needs.
What You Bring to the Team
- Proven leadership and team management skills as it relates to commercial and municipal sites.
- Strong knowledge of landscape construction techniques, including excavation, site prep, walls, planting, and hardscapes.
- Ability to read and interpret landscape design , construction and grading plans.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Physical stamina to perform and supervise manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Strong communication skills with both crew members and clients.
- A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to enforce safety protocols and promote a culture of safety.
- Knowledge of industry tools, equipment, and machinery, with the ability to train and supervise their use.
