Summary
About the Role – Assistant Director of Finance
The Assistant Director of Finance, working closely with the Director, will be responsible for day to day operations of the Finance Department. This role assists in overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, and analysis, while ensuring compliance with Hyatt Corporate Standards. The Assistant Director of Finance will work closely with department heads and senior management to provide strategic insights that support operational performance and profitability.

Some of the responsibilities include:
*Financial Reporting:*
Assist in the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Ensure accurate reporting of revenues, expenses, and profitability.

*Budgeting & Forecasting:*
Support the creation and management of annual budgets and forecasts. Provide insights to department heads regarding financial performance and corrective actions.

*Accounting Oversight:*
Ensure that all accounting functions, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger, are completed in accordance with established guidelines.

*Internal Controls & Compliance*
: Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant local, state, and federal financial regulations. Assist in implementing and monitoring internal controls to prevent fraud and inaccuracies.

*Operational Support:*
Provide financial analysis and advice to various hotel departments, including operations, sales, and marketing, to drive cost-effective decision-making.

*Audit Coordination:*
Assist with the annual internal and external audit processes. Ensure all required documentation and reports are prepared for auditors.

*Team Leadership*
: Supervise and mentor junior finance staff, ensuring training and development to maintain a high level of operational efficiency.

*Ad-hoc Reporting & Analysis:*
Prepare reports on special projects, initiatives, and business development opportunities as requested by the Director of Finance or senior leadership.

Qualifications

  • Hospitality or Accounting degree preferred
  • 4 years or more of progressive Accounting experience, preferably in a hotel
  • Experience closing and processing Canadian payroll considered an asset
  • knowledge of hospitality accounting software (e.g., Opera, Micros, Oracle Essbase) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated leadership and team development abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and with senior management.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
