About Baby Love
Baby Love Beginnings (Baby Love) is a Toronto-based charity dedicated to ensuring every child has access to clean diapers and early childhood essentials, promoting the health, dignity, and well-being of families across our city. We partner with social service agencies, hospitals, and community organizations to reach thousands of babies each year and advocate for lasting change around diaper need and early childhood equity.
About the Role
We're seeking an Interim Executive Director for a 1-year mo) contract to lead Baby Love during a period of exciting growth and impact. This is a rare opportunity to step into the top leadership role of a fast-moving, purpose-driven organization, one that operates at the intersection of community development, logistics, philanthropy, and early childhood policy.
Reporting to the Board of Directors and supported by a full-time Operations and Program Coordinator, you'll oversee the delivery of our programs, manage key partnerships, and execute our short-term strategic priorities. The ideal candidate is a strong generalist: someone energized by the chance to own a business end-to-end, work cross-functionally across operations, partnerships, and fundraising, and directly see the results of their leadership reflected in community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Execute Baby Love's detailed 2026 strategic plan and lead annual planning for 2027, building on the organization's existing three-year strategy and long-term vision.
- Lead a small but mighty team and inspire volunteers, partners, and supporters in achieving organizational goals.
- Provide continuity and oversight during the Executive Director's maternity leave, ensuring a seamless transition and sustained organizational momentum.
- Respond to new opportunities that advance Baby Love's reach and reputation.
Operational Management
- Oversee and mentor the Programs and Operations Coordinator responsible for day-to-day logistics, inventory, and partner deliveries.
- Offer strategic oversight and support on the implementation and continuous improvement of Baby Love's evolving logistics and distribution infrastructure, ensuring systems remain efficient, scalable, and mission-aligned through this period of operational transition.
- Manage strategic relationships with key suppliers, including manufacturers and distributors.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, financial and operational standards.
- Explore opportunities for co-branded or impact-driven production partnerships that align with Baby Love's mission and values.
Fundraising, Partnerships, and Development
- Lead and evolve Baby Love's fundraising strategy across individuals, foundations, corporations, and government partners to sustain and grow impact.
- Nurture and steward relationships with donors, sponsors, and funding partners to maximize philanthropic contributions and long-term engagement.
- Plan and oversee key fundraising and supporter appreciation events, ensuring strong logistics, partner participation, and a meaningful experience for attendees.
- Develop and activate strategic partnerships that align with Baby Love's mission and amplify its reach.
- Explore and pilot innovative revenue streams and cross-sector opportunities that strengthen organizational sustainability.
Community Engagement and Advocacy
- Maintain and strengthen partnerships with community agencies, healthcare institutions, and other stakeholders.
- Represent Baby Love in media and public forums to amplify awareness about diaper need and the organization's impact.
- Conceptualize and lead awareness campaigns that spark conversation, deepen understanding of diaper need, and mobilize community support.
- Support the planning and execution of key community and partner events that celebrate impact and foster connection.
Financial Management and Accountability
- Maintain annual budgets, financial projections, and performance metrics to monitor and evaluate organizational performance.
- Ensure prudent financial management, including budgetary controls, financial reporting, and compliance with grant requirements.
- Share regular updates on financial status, program outcomes, and strategic initiatives to the Board of Directors.
Who You Are
- A strong, adaptable leader who thrives in dynamic, hands-on environments.
- Skilled at moving between strategy and execution, equally comfortable in donor meetings and warehouse walk-throughs.
- Experienced in management, operations, or project leadership, whether in the nonprofit, corporate, or entrepreneurial world.
- A relationship builder who values collaboration, community partnerships, and purpose-driven work.
- Excited to spend a year leading a deeply meaningful organization and to leave a tangible mark on its next chapter of growth.
- Curious about the nonprofit sector and inspired by the opportunity to apply your skills to something with visible, immediate impact. Non-profit experience is not required, but passion for the mission and openness to learning are key
