The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus. The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.Position title: Kitchen Helper 2Department: Food & BeverageReports to: Sous ChefSupervises: NoneEmployee status:    Temporary, part-time until December 31, 2025Compensation: $18.50 per hourPosition Purpose The Kitchen Helper supports our Food and Beverage Operation at the Gallery Lounge & Patio. They are primarily responsible for preparing ingredients, and upholding the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen. The Kitchen Helper takes direction from the Sous Chef and prepares ingredients and other dishes. This position consistently maintains a "team-centered" atmosphere through embracing the mission statement and values of the AMS. This is an entry level position for someone who wants to get their foot in the door for the culinary world. Training will be considered for the right applicant who possesses natural talent, motivation, personality, work ethic and passion.
