As our clinic continues to grow, we are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Communication Disorder Assistant to join our dynamic and supportive team.
Position Summary:
The Communication Disorder Assistant will play a key role in supporting our audiologists and hearing instrument specialists in delivering exceptional care. You will assist with daily clinic operations, patient assessments, troubleshooting hearing aids, and managing administrative tasks. This position requires someone who is both technically skilled and empathetic, able to balance patients' needs with maintaining clinic efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Support:
- Assist clinicians with patient intake and gather relevant patient histories.
- Conduct hearing screenings under supervision.
- Prepare patients for audiological evaluations and hearing aid fittings.
- Provide patients with guidance on the proper use, care, and maintenance of hearing aids and assistive devices.
- Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs on hearing aids (e.g., cleaning, tubing changes, battery replacement).
- Help patients understand communication strategies and navigate available hearing health resources.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage patient records, including accurate data entry and updates in patient management systems.
- Handle incoming phone calls, answer patient inquiries, and schedule appointments.
- Assist with follow-up visits and manage clinic calendars.
- Coordinate the ordering of hearing aids, accessories, and maintain inventory levels.
- Perform general office tasks, such as filing, faxing, scanning, and emailing.
Audiology Support:
- Assist with post-fitting follow-up care, ensuring patient satisfaction with their devices.
- Monitor and maintain audiology equipment to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning.
- Prepare and process paperwork for hearing aid orders, warranties, and repairs.
- Support balance assessments and tinnitus management programs as needed.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Education: Post-secondary education in a Communication Disorders Assistant program or Audiology program.
