MacDonald Search Group is proud to partner with a respected not-for-profit organization in their search for a Vice President of People and Culture. Our client is focused on building safe, healthy, and inclusive communities through housing, outreach, and employment programs This executive team role provides strategic oversight of the organization's workforce strategy, culture, and enterprise risk management.

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, the VP, P&C is responsible for driving organizational alignment between people strategies, operational realities, and the long-term service vision. The VP manages the P&C team and serves as a key strategic advisor to the CEO, CAO, and Board of Directors. This role uniquely integrates P&C strategy with organizational risk management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead development and execution of a multi-year P&C strategy aligned with the mission. Champion a values-aligned, inclusive, and psychologically safe high-performance culture. Drive culture transformation and reconciliation-focused initiatives.
  • Promote DEIB as core organizational imperatives. Empower and develop leaders in trauma-informed and equity-centered practices. Advance employee and leadership development focused on accountability.
  • Lead the organizational risk management function and team. Integrate enterprise risk frameworks into P&C practices, operations, and strategic planning. Ensure P&C policies and practices comply with all applicable employment laws.
  • Oversee P&C service delivery for unionized and non-unionized staff. Manage departmental budgeting, workforce financial modeling, and benefits planning. Advise the Board and Executive on workforce trends, succession planning, and people risk.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in HR, Organizational Leadership, Business, or related field. CPHR designation or equivalent is required.
  • 7+ years of progressive HR leadership, including 3+ years in an executive or senior management role.
  • Extensive experience in unionized, multi-region, and mission-driven non-profit organizations.
  • Exceptional expertise in DEIB, labour relations, cultural transformation, compliance, and leadership development.
  • Strategic, systems-oriented thinker with advanced communication and influence skills.
