The Town of Aylmer Parks & Recreation department requires a community focused, motivated individual to join the team as the Community Recreation & Culture Programmer. This position is responsible for the coordination, planning, promotion, implementation and direct facilitation of recreation programs and special events for children, youth, adults, seniors and families in the Town of Aylmer. Creating community connections and promoting active living in Aylmer, this position will work daytime, evening and weekend shifts as required. Administrative and customer support at Town Hall is also required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Development and implementation of recreation programming for the Town of Aylmer.
- Plan, facilitate and evaluate recreation programs such as sports, games, crafts, workshops, skill/certification-based courses, on-line programming and special events for all ages/abilities.
- Support Town-led events, and community engagement initiatives.
- Liaise with community partners and interdepartmental divisions regarding community programs/events, including event coordination and special event permitting.
- Coordinates related administration to facility bookings/rentals of Old Town Hall.
- Coordinate and maintain a volunteer recruitment, training, and recognition program
- Administrative and customer support at Town Hall as required.

- Provide on-site customer service during programs and/or special events.
Qualifications:
- Considerable knowledge of the social, cultural and recreational needs for people of all ages and abilities.
- Grade 12, plus 2-year post-secondary education in Recreation and Leisure Services or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience with direct programming in a recreation environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Strong interpersonal, initiative, time management and problem-solving skills.
- Provide exemplary customer service to all participants.
- Must be motivated individual able to work outside in all weather. Daytime, evening and weekend shifts will be required.
Remuneration:
$21.76 – $26.44 per hour, 35 hours per week
The successful applicant has the option to participate in OMERS pension.
