The Role

As a Warehouse Team Member, your primary responsibility is to support the efficient and organized operation of the warehouse. You play a key role in tasks such as receiving, storing, and distributing merchandise. This involves accurately picking, packing, and shipping orders, as well as maintaining inventory records. Attention to detail is crucial, as you contribute to quality control by inspecting products for damage or discrepancies. Operating warehouse equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and following established protocols is part of your daily routine. Additionally, you actively participate in maintaining a clean and orderly workspace, follow health and safety guidelines, and collaborate with team members to ensure smooth warehouse operations. Your contribution is vital to meeting customer demands and upholding the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the warehouse.

Shift Schedule:  Thursday to Monday - 2pm-10:30pm

Duties and Responsibilities

Departmental Duties

  • Responsible for daily operations of the warehouse from receiving the product inventory to processing is complete, ensuring the smooth operations of the warehouse.
  • Ensure the collected/donated inventory such as E-waste, metal, electronics, and other home products is placed in their respective bins according to the organizational standards.
  • Responsible for the daily loading and unloading of trucks, trailers and ensure all the product is offloaded from the vehicles.
  • Ensure all third-party containers are prepared and ready to be shipped overseas in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for making bails out of used clothing inventory to ensure easy transportation of unwanted product so that it can be further recycled.
  • Ensure cap sack or garbage bags are bailed daily to minimize infections and maintain clean workplace.
  • Assist drivers in loading the garbage containers to the truck and dumping them in the garbage dump.
  • Ensure all electrical cords are removed from household appliances inventory and stored in the designated areas for further reselling to third party buyers.
  • Responsible for loading of heavy-duty industrial carts with inventory to the delivery trucks and unloading empty carts back to the warehouse.
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment by keeping collection bins, gaylord boxes, shelves, and workstations neat and organized.
  • Ensure the warehouse area is cleaned, organized and that all safety procedures are being always followed.
  • Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment's including pallet jacks, heavy duty carts and other tools and report any inefficiency to the warehouse manager or supervisor immediately.
  • Ensure to always wear personal protective equipment.
  • Maintain safe work environment by ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed and best practices are followed.
  • Established and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors and managers and ensure to work in a collaborative environment.
  • Ensure to follow and implement all organizational and departmental policies and d procedures.
  • Responsible to participate actively in all team or department meetings.
  • Assist in other duties and ensuring area between the loading dock, garbage compactors is always cleaned.

Health and Safety

  • Following established safety procedures and protocols outlined by the company.
  • Using personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety vests, gloves, and steel-toed boots as required.
  • Safely operating warehouse equipment in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Conducting regular equipment checks and reporting any malfunctions or issues promptly.
  • Understanding and being prepared to execute emergency procedures, including evacuation plans and first aid response.
  • Knowing the location and proper use of fire extinguishers and other emergency equipment.
  • Identifying potential hazards in the warehouse environment and reporting them to supervisors or the safety committee.
  • Taking immediate action to address or mitigate safety concerns.
  • Properly lifting and handling merchandise to prevent injuries.
  • Following safe manual handling techniques and using appropriate lifting aids when necessary.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work area to prevent slips, trips, and falls.
  • Regularly inspecting and cleaning warehouse spaces to remove potential hazards.
  • Participating in safety training programs and staying informed about updates or changes in safety policies.
  • Communicating effectively with team members regarding safety issues and concerns.
  • Reporting any workplace accidents, injuries, or near misses promptly.
  • Contributing to the investigation of incidents to prevent future occurrences.
  • Using proper techniques when lifting, reaching, or performing repetitive tasks.

Education, Experience and Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year of warehouse experience preferred.
  • Nice to have forklift certification.
  • Bondable

Physical Requirements and work environment:

  • Ability to regularly lift and move objects 50-100lbs or up to 500lbs.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to work in a very fast paced environment. Constant Repetitive work, bending, twisting, lifting, and standing for long periods of time. Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the Team member is exposed to dust, dirt, insects, garbage, and rodents throughout their designated shift.  The working environment can be noisy at times, with periodic temperature fluctuations and noise levels.  
  • Working hours includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Team Members interact with customers, clients, and the public.
